The Opportunity
We are seeking a forward-thinking SEO/GEO Manager to lead the evolution of organic discovery in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role goes beyond traditional SEO and focuses on Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)-ensuring accurate, compliant, and authoritative visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and future AI-driven search experiences.
The ideal candidate brings recent, hands-on SEO/GEO experience within a Pharma or Biotech organization (last 2 3 years) and has successfully implemented GEO strategies-not just documented them. You will operate at the intersection of technology, marketing, AI, and Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced SEO & GEO Strategy
Lead organic discovery strategy across traditional search and AI-driven platforms
Optimize content for AI answer engines (AIO, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude), focusing on:
Entity relationships
Citation authority
Structured data and content architecture
Drive implementation of advanced Schema.org markup (Medical Webpage, Drug, FAQ, Condition)
Oversee technical SEO health using Google Search Console and enterprise SEO tools
2. AI & GEO Innovation
Recommend and optimize content for conversational and intent-based queries relevant to patients, caregivers, and HCPs
Partner with agencies to integrate compliant AI workflows for SEO execution (metadata, audits, AI search analysis)
Ensure content is structured for LLM retrieval and RAG-based systems
3. Cross-Functional & Regulatory Leadership
Serve as a strategic liaison between SEO teams and Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) stakeholders
Navigate MLR review cycles while advocating for SEO/GEO best practices
Educate brand, marketing, and leadership teams on GEO, AI search, and measurable business impact
4. Agency Management
Manage external SEO agencies with accountability for quality, engagement, and sentiment, not just traffic
Coordinate SEO/GEO execution with internal web and content teams
Qualifications
Required:
7+ years of SEO/Digital Marketing experience
Recent (last 2 3 years) hands-on SEO/GEO experience at a Pharma or Biotech company
Proven implementation of GEO strategies with measurable success
Strong experience working within MLR/PRC regulatory frameworks
Deep expertise in Schema.org, entity-based SEO, and knowledge graph optimization
Preferred:
Experience optimizing for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar platforms
Familiarity with LLM behavior, NLP, and RAG-based content retrieval
Tools: Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.
Soft Skills:
Ability to influence without authority
Strong communication skills to translate technical SEO/GEO concepts to non-technical and regulatory audiences
