Job Title: SmartMeter Operations & AMI Network Specialist IV

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and technical SmartMeter Operations & AMI Network Specialist IV to support advanced metering infrastructure, smart grid operations, and strategic smart meter initiatives. In this role, you will provide critical operational and project support across smart meter devices, Itron technologies, RF wireless communications networks, relays, access points, and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).

This is a vital operational technology role for an independent specialist who can contribute immediately to network reliability and performance optimization. You will monitor and troubleshoot complex AMI network issues, lead root cause analyses, collaborate with cross-functional IT and vendor teams, and support testing and deployment for emerging smart grid projects. If you possess deep technical experience in electric smart meter environments and utility communications, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
Smart Meter & AMI Operations
Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex operational issues affecting smart meter devices, communication endpoints, and AMI infrastructure.
Infrastructure Support: Provide end-to-end support for Itron technologies, Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS), RF/wireless communication meshes, relays, and access points.
Incident & Escalation Management: Perform rigorous root cause analyses for network anomalies, supporting outage restoration, incident resolution, and vendor escalations.
System Reliability: Partner with IT, business operations, external vendors, and contractors to maintain optimal system performance, data integrity, and network coverage.

Project Implementation & Process Documentation
Deployment Support: Support large-scale project implementations, system upgrades, equipment evaluations, technology trials, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Design Review: Participate in technical design reviews and deployment planning for field communications infrastructure and relay lifecycles.
Documentation & Training: Document operational processes, maintain technical runbooks, and provide knowledge transfer, training, and technical guidance to team members.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional utility experience).
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience supporting electric Smart Meter / Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) environments within the utility industry.
Technical Mastery:
o Hands-on experience with Itron technologies and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).
o In-depth knowledge of smart meter devices, access points, relay devices, and field networking hardware.
o Strong working knowledge of RF and wireless communications protocols and data network architectures.
o Proven troubleshooting, analytical, and incident resolution skills.
Core Competencies: Ability to work collaboratively in hybrid team environments; strong written and verbal communication skills; capability to manage multiple operational priorities independently.

Preferred Attributes
Direct experience with Smart Grid development, IoT utility rollouts, or large-scale device lifecycle management.
Background supporting complex field communications infrastructure in regulated utility sectors.
