Senior APIM Engineer

I'm currently working with a client that is looking to add a Senior APIM Engineer/Technical Lead to their team. This is a highly visible opportunity where you'll play a key role in driving API management, integration, and platform engineering initiatives across the organization.

This position will work closely with the Lead Architect, taking ownership of the hands-on engineering, platform configuration, and API delivery efforts while helping support broader modernization and integration strategies.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise API management solutions.


• Build, secure, and optimize APIs, gateways, policies, and integrations across the enterprise.


• Partner with architecture, development, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable and secure API solutions.


• Support cloud and on-prem integration initiatives as part of larger modernization efforts.


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex API, networking, and integration issues.


• Drive API governance, lifecycle management, and platform best practices.


• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for API management and integration technologies.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with API Management platforms such as Azure APIM, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or similar technologies.


• Deep understanding of REST APIs, API security, OAuth, JWT, mTLS, and enterprise integration patterns.


• Experience building and managing API gateways, policies, and developer portals.


• Background supporting large-scale API ecosystems and distributed environments.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across APIs, networking, and integration layers.


• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Azure API Management (APIM)


• Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform cloud platforms


• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices


• Enterprise modernization or digital transformation projects


• Microservices, containers, and service mesh technologies
