About this Position

The Securities team is seeking an Application Developer Team Leader to support our Broker Dealer Applications for U.S. and Canada Investment and Savings Products (ISP) business. The Application Developer Team Leader is responsible for supervising a team of Mainframe developers. This includes performing project management functions by providing project time estimates/target dates and planning and organizing programming tasks. The Team Leader monitors project progress and makes adjustments in workflow, personnel and target dates as needed. Project and resource tracking will be maintained in our Project Tracking applications (SDMR, Jira and in IBM JAZZ).

This position requires an in-depth knowledge and experience in IBM mainframe programming skills to participate in project design meetings, providing input to proposed system solutions. The Team Leader will monitor developer performance and will write performance reviews annually. This position will be supporting our Broker Dealer Applications for ISP (Investment and Savings Products) U.S. and Canada business.

This role is hybrid in Duluth, GA.
The salary range for this role is $120K - $140K.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Essential Functions:
  • Performs Project Management functions
  • Assists with analysis on proposed projects, providing input to system design solutions based on business requirements
  • Reviews and approves technical specifications
  • Provides Business users and IT Management with time estimates and target dates
  • Plans and organizes programming tasks in order to meet target dates
  • Monitors project progress and makes adjustments in workflow, personnel and target dates as needed
  • Conducts system walk-throughs with programming team and business users
  • Reports project status, problems and concerns to IT management and business users
  • Coordinates with Business Users, other IT Development teams, Data Center, Information System Security and 3rd parties as needed on projects
  • Coordinates security and audit considerations with users and Internal Audit department
  • Reviews developer test plans and test results
  • Reviews Business User Acceptance test plans and test results
  • Performs various IT organizational functions
  • Maintains assigned project information via our Project Tracking Systems
  • Creates and maintains project plans
  • Maintains good user relations
  • Meets with Business users and IT management to determine project priorities
  • Provides on-call support for each of our environments (production, user integration test UAT, and systems integration test SIT)
  • Evaluates new software products/releases as needed
  • Performs team management functions
  • Supervises team of multiple Mainframe Developers
  • Supervises contractors, including assistance with managing budget for contractors
  • Ensures adherence to architectural and development guidelines and is informed of emerging technology at the company
  • Contributes to technology improvements used across the team for project and allocation management
  • Maintains team member performance review and attendance records
  • Writes and conducts performance review and determines merit increases with IT management
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures. Keeps team members informed of any changes
  • Resolves conflicts with/among team members
  • Assists IT management in staffing decisions and selection
  • Assists with Project Implementation Plans and UAT / Production Promote tasks
  • Conducts team meetings as needed
  • Trains/coaches team members in proper programming methods and techniques

Qualifications:
  • 10 years of work experience in IT, with Programming background and 3 to 5 years project management experience over Mainframe Projects
  • 4 year IT college degree a plus
  • 3 to 5 years management experience
  • Experience in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL in a z/OS environment is required
  • Experience with Distributed programming skills is a plus
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies
  • Experience in project life cycle phases including analysis, design, programming and implementation
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
