Systems Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to support and enhance enterprise infrastructure. This long-term contract position is suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage core Microsoft platforms, strengthen endpoint and identity services, and help maintain a secure, reliable IT environment. The role will work across server administration, cloud-connected services, endpoint operations, and security response while partnering with technical teams and business stakeholders to improve operational performance.

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily administration of Windows Server environments and maintain stable performance across core infrastructure systems.

Support Hyper-V ecosystems by managing clustered hosts, virtual machines, storage resources, backup operations, and disaster recovery readiness.

Maintain enterprise endpoint management through Microsoft Intune and related tools, including application rollout, policy configuration, compliance enforcement, and remediation scripting.

Administer identity platforms such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365, including access controls, authentication methods, and user lifecycle activities.

Investigate infrastructure and security incidents, resolve vulnerabilities, and contribute to response efforts and root cause reviews.

Provide advanced troubleshooting as an escalation point for complex systems, endpoint, and networking issues affecting users and business services.

Build and refine automation using PowerShell to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and support scalable IT operations.

Create and update technical documentation, operational standards, and support procedures to strengthen service delivery and governance.

Work with vendors, managed security partners, and internal teams to coordinate platform support, compliance activities, and infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Intune, and PowerShell scripting.
Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including firewalls, switching, wireless connectivity, VPN technologies, and secure access methods.
Experience with endpoint management, patching, compliance enforcement, and troubleshooting across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices.
Background in security operations, including vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, single sign-on, and privileged access practices.
Ability to work independently on complex infrastructure initiatives with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting regulated environments and compliance-driven processes such as access reviews, audit support, or SOX-related controls.
Preferred exposure to tools and platforms such as ServiceNow, CrowdStrike, Arctic Wolf, Mimecast, Veeam, Nasuni, SharePoint, Citrix technologies, Palo Alto, or Meraki.
