Software Engineer – C++, Python & JavaScript | TS/SC

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Software Engineer to support our customer in Springfield, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong software development and enterprise application integration experience, with proficiency in C++, Python, and JavaScript.

The engineer will work with a multidisciplinary technical team to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level applications and APIs that support analytical functions. This is a fast-paced Agile/DevSecOps environment requiring strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications and APIs.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, workflows, data usage, and operational needs.
• Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities for enhancement and modernization.
• Develop new features and improve existing brownfield applications.
• Develop automated testing solutions and testing strategies.
• Create scripting solutions to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software, integration, and production issues.
• Develop and maintain system architecture and data-flow diagrams.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders in an Agile environment.
• Participate in requirements refinement, task planning, status updates, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Support deployment and maintenance of applications in enterprise environments.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field.

• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI and CI-Poly eligibility.
• 4–6+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-level software systems.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and JavaScript.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.
• Experience working with brownfield/legacy applications and implementing enhancements.
• Experience with DevSecOps tools/frameworks, such as GitLab and Jira.
• Experience creating architecture diagrams and data-flow diagrams.
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar containerization/orchestration technologies.
• Strong Linux CLI experience, including Bash/Python scripting.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Active Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph or CI-Poly eligibility.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• DoD 8570 / IAT Level II certification such as Security+ or CySA+.
• 7+ years of enterprise software development experience.
• Experience with React or other modern UI frameworks.
• Experience with Ansible or other automation tools.
• Experience with Airflow, Django, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, or other big-data technologies.
• Experience with AWS or Azure.
• Background in computer vision, computer graphics, or homography.
• Experience with GIS data.
• Previous experience supporting DoD organizations or government customers.
