Primary Responsibilities

Seal and/or approve documents as required, which requires an active Engineering license (PE or SE).
  • Maintain your assigned portion of the project schedule and record accurate hours worked on each project.
  • Collaborate with Architectural Project Coordinators to maintain adherence to project schedules. Work with other team members regarding project components to support project completion and minimize idle time.
  • Deliver high-level expertise related to guidelines, standards, and best practices.
  • Independently apply engineering concepts and designs to ensure assigned functions within each project are accurate without major revisions required to correct structure, design, or established procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in discussions, provide recommendations, and develop solutions with Homebuilding, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other NVR departments as needed. This may include addressing field repairs or clarifying appropriate construction methods with inspectors.
  • Consult with experts in areas such as structural and mechanical engineering, architecture, estimating, building code enforcement, truss engineering, and IT to ensure documents are complete and accurate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) license in at least one state.
  • Experience with structural design software (e.g., iStruct, Digital Canal, Tekla Tedds).
  • Design experience in residential homebuilding and light wood-framed construction.
  • 6+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years as a PE.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and database tools as well as MS Office products.
  • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • High level of attention to detail, as well as strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, with strong communication skills.
