One of our clients is looking for a Sr. SQL DBA - AWS Cloud to join their team in Miramar, FL.
MUST HAVE:
1. 10+ years of SQL Server DBA exp.
2. AWS Cloud exp.

1. AI exp. for streamlining or making things more efficient
PROJECT DETAILS (Size, Scale, Scope):
- What is the scope of work that is being completed?
- Day to day responsibilities
- SQL DBA and cloud exposure AWS (preferred)-CloudWatch, dynamics, Splunk,
- 10 years of exp. preferred
- Off-shore team handles 24/7 support
- Projects for different teams businesses deploying new applications, sizing, versions, working with business (55 ships), deploying shore and ship,
- Need to own and run, making sure deliverables are being met, gather info, architect, work with infrastructure team, escalated issues
- Operational support-monitoring backups
- Version of SQL Server: 2016-2022, AlwaysOn, replication
- On call support-no, first goes to off shore team, depending on issue will escalate to onshore team
- Clustered instances in 2-4 terabytes 600 databases
- Day to day responsibilities
Position Summary
The Senior Database Administrator reports to the Manager, Database Platforms. He/she should have extensive knowledge of managing and supporting SQL Server database technology. The role requires expertise in architecture, design, management, replication, backup, recovery, instance/query optimization, monitoring. She/he must demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Architect, design, install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2016, 2017 and later) and related software.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize database performance, including tuning queries and indexing. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, corruption, or connectivity problems.
- Design, implement, and manage database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Develop and enforce database security policies, including user access controls and audit procedures. Collaborate with the Security and Compliance teams to identify and address security risks and vulnerabilities, ensuring that database systems remain up to date, secure, and compliant with relevant policies and regulations.
- Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for SQL database architecture, deployment, configuration, backups, monitoring, and related activities, revising them periodically to ensure continued relevance.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripts and tools.
- Manage disaster recovery plans and perform regular testing.
- Experience in T-SQL required to manage/support stored procedures, jobs and similar objects.
- Support cloud-based SQL Server deployments and support, including but not limited to Azure SQL and AWS RDS.
- Experience in monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, and similar platforms.
- Knowledge of Windows Server environments and related infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries.
- Collaborate with the offshore team to provide 24x7 support and ensure timely delivery of key project milestones.
- Available during off-hours and weekends to support critical business issues and key deliverables.
- Stay current with industry best practices and new features of SQL Server to continuously improve database environments.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience in Database Administration.
- Preferred experience working in large, cross-functional teams in a globally diverse model.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator) are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
