Salesforce Architect
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Architect to support a mission-critical Federal Health IT program for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Salesforce Architect will provide technical leadership and architectural direction for enterprise Salesforce solutions supporting complex business processes, data integrations, workflow automation, reporting, and digital services.
This individual will work closely with Federal stakeholders, product owners, business analysts, developers, quality engineers, security teams, and other architects to translate business and mission needs into scalable, secure, maintainable Salesforce solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong Salesforce platform expertise with hands-on architecture experience, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and experience delivering solutions in Federal or similarly regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and technical direction of enterprise Salesforce solutions supporting HRSA programs.
- Translate business, functional, security, integration, and data requirements into scalable Salesforce solution architectures.
- Define Salesforce platform architecture, application design patterns, development standards, reusable components, and technical governance.
- Evaluate business requirements and determine when to use configuration, low-code capabilities, custom development, integrations, or third-party solutions.
- Design solutions using Salesforce capabilities including Lightning Experience, Lightning Web Components, Apex, Flow, APIs, security controls, reporting, dashboards, and platform automation.
- Develop architecture diagrams, integration models, data models, interface specifications, technical design documentation, and implementation guidance.
- Lead solution design sessions and technical reviews with Government and contractor stakeholders.
- Provide technical oversight to Salesforce developers and ensure implementations align with architectural standards and Salesforce best practices.
- Architect integrations between Salesforce and external Federal systems, APIs, databases, identity providers, document management systems, and other enterprise applications.
- Establish data architecture strategies including data modeling, migration, cleansing, synchronization, data quality, and archival.
- Design solutions that support Salesforce governor limits, platform performance, scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and availability requirements.
- Ensure solutions comply with applicable Federal security, accessibility, privacy, and data-protection standards.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement appropriate Salesforce access controls, profiles, permission sets, sharing models, encryption, authentication, audit logging, and security configurations.
- Participate in DevSecOps processes including source control, automated deployments, CI/CD pipelines, environment management, code review, and release management.
- Review existing Salesforce applications and recommend improvements, modernization opportunities, technical debt remediation, and platform optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex application, integration, performance, and deployment issues.
- Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical estimation, release planning, and Agile ceremonies.
- Mentor technical team members and promote Salesforce engineering best practices.
- Evaluate Salesforce platform enhancements and emerging technologies for applicability to HRSA business needs.
- Explore responsible use of AI capabilities, including Salesforce AI/Agentforce and generative AI, where appropriate to improve user productivity and mission outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of overall enterprise application development or architecture experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce implementation experience.
- 3+ years serving as a Salesforce Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or Lead Architect.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce platform architecture and multi-layer application design.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Apex
- Lightning Web Components
- Salesforce Flow
- SOQL/SOSL
- REST/SOAP APIs
- Salesforce security model
- Data modeling
- Reports and dashboards
- Integration patterns
- Experience designing Salesforce solutions integrated with external enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce governor limits, performance considerations, development standards, and deployment practices.
- Experience with Agile software delivery methodologies.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical architecture and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Federal Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting HRSA, HHS, CMS, FDA, or another Federal civilian health agency.
- Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions, Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, or Health Cloud.
- Salesforce certifications such as:
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect
- Salesforce Certified System Architect
- Salesforce Certified Platform Developer
- Salesforce Certified Integration Architect
- Salesforce Certified Data Architect
- Salesforce Certified Sharing and Visibility Architect
- Experience with MuleSoft or comparable enterprise integration platforms.
- Experience with DevSecOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Copado, Gearset, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Federal security standards, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and NIST-based environments.
- Experience applying AI, generative AI, predictive analytics, or Salesforce Agentforce capabilities to enterprise workflows
