RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Controls Engineer in Phoenix, AZ.

Summary:
The Controls Engineer will work on a team in developing and maintaining advanced manufacturing equipment. You will be involved in electrical design, software design, specification development, installation, startup, project management, and support for both existing and new equipment and systems. You will work with both internal and external partners to design electrical schematics, program PLCs and peripherals, and support unique manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:
* Controls Engineer will perform hands-on electrical design and support for process equipment such as drives, PLC logic programming, HMIs, wiring schematics, power systems, instrumentation, and motor control systems
* Architect, write, simulate, and test structured unique machine software for Allen-Bradley PLCs
* Work with process engineers to improve and optimize existing equipment and designs
* Be an integral member of a project team that specifies, constructs, commissions, and supports design and validation of manufacturing equipment
* Work closely with vendors on the design and purchase of new equipment and modification to existing systems
* Troubleshoot and support existing process and auxiliary equipment
* As a Controls Engineer, you will create and/or update software and electrical specifications and documentation
* Partner with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls issues with automated manufacturing equipment

REQUIREMENTS:
* BSEE or related degree (including Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.)
* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an Automation Engineer working with automation or electromechanical systems in industrial environments
* Minimum 3 years of experience designing and deploying custom PLC logic for automated manufacturing systems, including ladder logic programming and integration with HMI platforms
* Demonstrated experience leading, prioritizing, and completing multiple technical projects and daily tasks
* Experience in performing electrical design and hands-on support for manufacturing equipment
* Experience with industrial drives and controls
* Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and machine safety practices
* Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs to define equipment requirements
* Ability to travel up to 10%

Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with Allen Bradley drive programming, temperature controllers, and robotics
* Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawing experience to generate schematics, 3D electrical panel layouts, and other documentation
* Working knowledge of electrical code and standards for industrial equipment design

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
