Summary

We are seeking a high-caliber SAFe Scrum Master / Digital Coach to serve as a servant leader and catalyst for agility within a large-scale enterprise environment in Washington, DC. In this pivotal role, you will guide an Agile Team through the complexities of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe 6.0), fostering an environment of high performance, continuous learning, and relentless improvement. You will act as a bridge between technical execution and strategic value delivery, coaching teams to mature their practices while collaborating across the Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure seamless dependency management and predictable delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Act as a servant leader to facilitate all iteration events (Planning, Sync, Review, Retrospective) and guide the team toward self-organization and high maturity.
  • SAFe Implementation: Lead the team through PI Planning preparation and execution, ensuring alignment with the ART’s cadence and synchronization.
  • Flow Optimization: Establish and manage Kanban boards to visualize work, identify bottlenecks, and utilize OKR metrics to measure and improve flow and competency.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Train teams and stakeholders on diverse methodologies beyond Scrum, including Kanban, Flow, Built-in Quality, and BDD, while fostering a "T-shaped" skill set.
  • Impediment Removal: Proactively identify and resolve conflicts and roadblocks, persuading rather than using authority to drive decision-making.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product Owners to maximize solution value and coordinate with other teams to ensure integrated learning cycles and Release on Demand.
  • Culture Building: Foster a culture of transparency through information radiators, trust, and psychological safety, while actively participating in Communities of Practice (CoPs).

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach within a large, complex enterprise setting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of professional experience and education.
  • Core Certification: Active SAFe 6.0 Scrum Master (SSM) certification is strictly required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level skills in Agile management tools, specifically Jira Software, Confluence, FigJam, Jira Align, and AgilityInsights.
  • Preferred Certifications: Advanced credentials such as SAFe SASM, SPC 6.0, RTE, or ICAgile are highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to present to and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Mindset: A deep-rooted commitment to Lean-Agile values and the ability to model a continuous learning mindset for the organization.
