Summary
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled mechanical design professional with extensive experience in product development, CAD modeling, engineering documentation, and manufacturing support. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, expertise in GD&T, and the ability to lead design efforts from concept through production release.
Candidates who possess an Active DoD Security Clearance and be proficient in PTC Creo Parametric is a Plus.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using PTC Creo Parametric.
- Create, modify, and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and product definition data.
- Support the complete product development lifecycle, including concept development, detailed design, prototype builds, testing, manufacturing, and production release.
- Perform design trade studies, tolerance stack-up analysis, volume packaging, and manufacturability evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and design requirements.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and configuration management records.
- Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Change Actions as required.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, manufacturing, technicians, procurement, and cross-functional teams to resolve design issues.
- Support prototype fabrication, hardware assembly, and testing activities.
- Delegate work assignments and provide technical guidance to Designers, Drafters, and Checkers.
- Work within secure facilities supporting SAP/SAR or other classified defense programs.
- Perform additional engineering and design duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PTC Creo Parametric 7.0+
- Experience with Windchill PDMLink 11.0+
- Experience using Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE PLM
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009, Military Standards, and ASME standards
- Electro-mechanical packaging experience
- Experience leading small mechanical design teams
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills within engineering organizations
