The position applies practical SRE principles to production operations, including observability, automation, reliability improvements, documentation, and disciplined troubleshooting.

This position independently handles Level 2 support and selected Level 3 production issues, while partnering with senior engineers on the most complex technical problems, external partner escalations, and larger platform modernization efforts. A dedicated incident response team manages incident coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and moderately complex configuration, maintenance, patching, deployment, and operational support activities.

Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions under established engineering guidance.

Support the incident response team as a technical contributor without owning incident command or coordination.

Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and other automation to reduce repetitive operational work.

Support monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, health checks, and operational telemetry.

Assist with external vendor and partner troubleshooting, escalating complex issues to senior engineers when deeper technical ownership is required.

Maintain clear operational documentation, runbooks, support procedures, and configuration records.

Collaborate with application development, network, database, security, IAM, platform, cloud, and enterprise operations teams.

Participate in an on-call rotation supporting OneMain Auto production systems.

Platform & Reliability Engineering Responsibilities

Contribute to reusable configurations, scripts, and deployment patterns that improve consistency and reliability.

Support standardization efforts designed to reduce configuration drift across environments.

Assist with Infrastructure as Code and environment automation under established engineering patterns.

Participate in modernization work, including exposure to containerization and managed runtime platforms.

Identify opportunities to improve operability, monitoring, documentation, and automation of supported systems.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in production operations, application support, systems administration, software support, or a related technical role.

Experience supporting Windows Server environments.

Working knowledge of IIS and web application hosting concepts.

Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server sufficient to troubleshoot application and production support issues.

Experience with PowerShell or another scripting language used for systems automation.

Experience or practical exposure to Microsoft Azure, preferably Azure IaaS.

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, ports, certificates, and application connectivity.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently on moderately complex production support activities and recognize when escalation is required.

Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to SRE concepts including monitoring, reliability, automation, toil reduction, SLIs, or SLOs.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools or configuration automation.

Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, or other container technologies.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes.

Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.

Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.

Core Competencies

Strong production support and customer-service mindset.

Structured troubleshooting and analytical thinking.

Growing automation and reliability engineering mindset.

Ability to manage assigned work independently and escalate appropriately.

Clear technical communication and documentation.

Accountability, attention to detail, and continuous learning.
