Summary

We are currently seeking GC&candidates for the role of Data Engineering Tech Lead (Contract-to-Hire) in a hybrid setting based in Houston.

Role Summary:
The Data Engineering Tech Lead will play a crucial role in strengthening and modernizing our Data Platform, which supports outbound supply chain analytics and real-time data flows. This hands-on position will focus on leading technical design, elevating engineering standards, and enhancing platform reliability, performance, and scalability across batch and near real-time workloads. The ideal candidate will possess strong architectural thinking, deep hands-on engineering experience, and a passion for building stable, high-quality data systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines (batch and near real-time) using AWS technologies.
- Establish and enforce data architecture standards, modeling best practices, and engineering guardrails.
- Drive improvements in platform stability, monitoring, observability, and alerting.
- Enhance CI/CD practices and automate deployment processes for data workloads.
- Optimize Redshift and database performance, including cost and workload management.
- Strengthen data quality controls, validation logic, and governance practices.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and raise overall technical standards across the team.
- Support modernization efforts, including refactoring legacy ETL workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and secure data access.

Required Skills:
- 8+ years in Data Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (Redshift, Aurora Postgres, S3, Lambda).
- SQL performance tuning.
- Python-based ETL.
- Data modeling (operational + analytical).
- Experience implementing CI/CD for data platforms.
- Strong understanding of observability and monitoring frameworks.
- Experience working with cross-functional architecture teams.

Preferred Skills:
- Kafka/streaming exposure.
- dbt experience.
- Google Cloud Platform BigQuery/streams.
- Experience modernizing legacy ETL systems.
- Exposure to supply chain/transportation data.
- Experience leading offshore teams.
