A leading North American manufacturer is seeking a Principal Casting & Metallurgical Engineer to serve as a technical leader supporting multiple production facilities. This individual will act as the organization's subject matter expert for molten metal processing, casting technology, metallurgical troubleshooting, process development, and operational excellence initiatives.

Job Details

What You'll Do:
Serve as the technical expert for casting, melting, and molten metal processes across multiple manufacturing locations.
Lead complex troubleshooting efforts involving casting quality, metal recovery, process variability, and operational performance.
Develop and implement best practices to improve quality, productivity, recovery, and cost efficiency.
Partner with plant leadership, engineering, operations, quality, and R&D teams to solve critical manufacturing challenges.
Lead cross-functional technology and process improvement initiatives.
Analyze operational and production data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Support new technology evaluations and implementation of emerging casting and metallurgical processes.
Train and mentor engineers, metallurgists, and operations personnel.
Standardize technical practices and drive knowledge sharing across facilities.
Support capacity improvement initiatives through process optimization and workflow enhancements.
Promote a culture of operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of experience supporting casting, metallurgy, molten metal processing, or manufacturing operations.
Experience with casting process optimization, defect reduction, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive technical initiatives.

Preferred:
Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in casting, molten metal processing, melting, recycling, or process metallurgy.
Experience with ingot, slab, billet, foundry, or other large-scale casting operations.
Background in metallurgical characterization, process modeling, simulation, or manufacturing technology development.
Experience supporting multiple facilities or large-scale manufacturing organizations.
Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement experience.
