Position SummaryThe Senior Data Analyst will support the Data Management team and the AL DSS by developing and maintaining data workflows, optimizing ETL processes, resolving data quality issues, and supporting intrastate agency data needs. This role requires strong technical expertise in Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, data warehousing, and healthcare data (Medicaid preferred).
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate data engineering and ETL activities.
- Work closely with ETL architects to understand requirements and design user-focused data transformations.
- Participate in the overall architecture, design, and automation of ETL workflows.
- Investigate data issues within ETL pipelines; identify root causes and propose solutions.
- Develop ETL pipelines and data flows using Azure Data Factory and Snowflake toolsets.
- Build idempotent ETL processes that support error-free restarts.
- Utilize Snowflake Virtual Warehouses and Snowpipe to automate data ingestion.
- Manage slowly changing dimensions and data versioning using Snowflake Streams and Tasks.
- Optimize data movement, processing, and storage for performance and efficiency.
- Build job orchestration solutions for scheduling workflows, running quality checks, and managing dependencies.
- Conduct testing of ETL code, data design, pipelines, and root cause analysis for production issues.
- Document implementations, test cases, and CI/CD deployment processes.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years data engineering experience, with emphasis on data warehousing.
- 2+ years developing pipelines in Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- 5+ years ETL development experience using tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, etc.
- 5+ years experience with relational databases (Oracle, Snowflake, SQL Server).
- 3+ years experience writing stored procedures (PL/SQL, T-SQL, or Snowflake SQL).
- 2+ years experience with source control tools (GitHub, SVN).
- 2+ years experience processing structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with HL7, FHIR, and healthcare file formats.
- 3+ years analyzing project requirements and developing ETL specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting, optimization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in evolving technological environments.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Business, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications- 2+ years experience with batch or PowerShell scripting.
- 2+ years Python scripting.
- 3+ years data modeling experience in a data warehouse environment.
- Experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (Data Integration).
- Experience building REST or RPC APIs in Snowflake or ADF.
- Background in State Medicaid, Medicare, or healthcare applications.
- Azure data engineering or analytics certifications.
