Senior Data Engineer

Contract Duration: 6-months

Location: Remote (100% Telecommute)

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Rate: $60/hr

Project Overview

Client is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to support its CT Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) within the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Analytics organization. This individual will work with large healthcare datasets and help translate business requirements into scalable enterprise data solutions. The role will support key initiatives within the CT EDW while contributing to broader data governance, information management, analytics, privacy and security, data modeling, and modernization efforts across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise data warehouse solutions and data pipelines.
  • Build and support ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, and related technologies.
  • Develop and maintain data integrations between multiple healthcare systems and enterprise data platforms.
  • Create, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL code, stored procedures, and database objects within Oracle, Snowflake, SQL Server, and other relational databases.
  • Process and integrate structured and unstructured healthcare data, including HL7 and FHIR data formats.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop detailed ETL specifications, technical designs, and documentation.
  • Support data governance, data quality, privacy, and security initiatives.
  • Utilize source control and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, and SVN to manage code deployments and development lifecycle activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data integration and performance issues while identifying opportunities for optimization and automation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of Data Engineering experience with a strong focus on Data Warehousing.
  • 5+ years of experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks.
  • 5+ years of ETL development experience using Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, Snowflake, and SQL Server.
  • 5+ years of experience developing stored procedures using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL, or Snowflake SQL.
  • 3+ years of Python scripting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing source control and DevOps tools, including Azure DevOps, GitHub, SVN, or similar platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience processing structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience working with healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR.
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing business requirements and creating detailed ETL specifications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of batch scripting or PowerShell experience.
  • 3+ years of data modeling experience within a data warehouse environment.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience designing and building APIs utilizing Snowflake and Azure Data Factory.
  • Healthcare industry experience, particularly supporting Medicaid and Medicare data environments.
  • Azure Data Engineer or Data Analytics certifications.
