Job title: Senior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Database & Middleware Engineer

Location: Richmond VA (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Database & Middleware Engineer to design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise Oracle environments hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing Oracle databases, middleware, automation, and cloud infrastructure while ensuring high availability, security, performance, and disaster recovery.

This role requires participation in after-hours and weekend maintenance activities, including database patching, upgrades, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments.

·       Administer Oracle Database 19c and Oracle Database 26ai environments.

·       Plan and execute Oracle Database upgrades from 19c to 26ai.

·       Configure and manage Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB).

·       Perform PDB cloning, migration, backup, and recovery operations.

·       Configure and maintain Oracle Data Guard environments.

·       Administer Oracle WebLogic Server 14 (Fusion Middleware and WebLogic Suite).

·       Install, configure, and maintain Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22+.

·       Develop, maintain, and support Oracle APEX 18+ applications.

·       Manage RMAN backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

·       Perform Oracle database PSU patching using Fleet Management Tool.

·       Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control 24ai.

·       Monitor system health and optimize database performance.

·       Automate operational tasks using Shell scripting, Ansible, and GitLab.

·       Support Oracle DBaaS deployments in OCI.

·       Collaborate with Development, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams for application deployments.

·       Implement security best practices across Oracle infrastructure.

·       Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.

·       Participate in after-hours maintenance windows, production support, and critical incident resolution.

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

·       10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle technologies.

·       Strong experience managing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

·       Experience administering Oracle Database 19c and Oracle Database 26ai.

·       Experience upgrading Oracle databases from 19c to 26ai.

·       Strong knowledge of:

·       Oracle APEX 18+

·       Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22+

·       Oracle WebLogic Server 14

·       Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai

·       Oracle Data Guard

·       RMAN Backup & Recovery
