Our client is seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer to support, enhance, and modernize mission-critical applications used for field operations, payroll, reporting, crew scheduling, and regulatory compliance. This role combines production support, application development, systems integration, and large-scale data migration.
Mainframe Systems Programmer Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance legacy mainframe applications supporting critical management systems.
Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs, interfaces, workflows, and production issues.
Develop and support COBOL programs and JCL processes.
Load and validate crew schedules while ensuring operational continuity.
Manage integrations with Kronos, PeopleSoft, enterprise data lakes, and downstream reporting platforms.
Develop operational, business, and regulatory reports.
Lead the migration of historical data to a modern replacement platform.
Validate migrated data for accuracy, completeness, and operational readiness.
Document system processes, integrations, and workflows while providing knowledge transfer.

Mainframe Systems Programmer Required Qualifications

10+ years of application development experience, preferably in mainframe or legacy enterprise environments.
6+ years of hands-on COBOL and JCL experience.
Strong knowledge of batch processing, data interfaces, system integrations, and production support.
Proven ability to resolve complex, time-sensitive issues in mission-critical systems.
Experience developing operational or regulatory reports.
Strong collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Mainframe Systems Programmer Preferred Qualifications

Experience with large-scale data migration or application modernization.
Transportation, logistics, or crew management systems experience.
Familiarity with Kronos, PeopleSoft, or similar enterprise platforms.
Knowledge of FRA Hours of Service or other regulated reporting requirements.
