Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Set-Up Technician II to support manufacturing operations by maintaining optimum performance, efficiency, and repeatability of thermoforming, extrusion, and plastic molding machinery and equipment.

The Set-Up Technician II will perform accurate and efficient mold setups, machine startups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and process adjustments to maintain high machine output and utilization.

The role also supports packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly activities and requires strong technical and mechanical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and efficient mold setups and machine startups.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor thermoforming, extrusion, and plastic molding equipment.
  • Ensure machines operate efficiently and maintain required production output.
  • Monitor product/part quality and complete First Article documentation.
  • Understand and follow documented run parameters for molds and materials.
  • Troubleshoot processing and mechanical issues and make appropriate process adjustments.
  • Monitor scrap and make necessary changes to meet department KPIs.
  • Monitor mechanical systems for proper operation.
  • Manage material systems and coordinate material/silo changes.
  • Perform machine changeovers and ensure proper startup procedures.
  • Participate in packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly activities.
  • Complete production transactions and documentation accurately using systems such as AS400 and Mattec.
  • Follow production schedules and coordinate activities with other departments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Train employees on job functions when required.
  • Follow all safety, quality, PPE, and company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Communicate production issues and project status to management.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of Plastic Injection/Mold experience – Mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on mold setup and machine startup experience preferred/required based on client screening.
  • Experience performing accurate and efficient mold setups and startups.
  • Experience with plastic manufacturing/molding processes.
  • Ability to understand documented mold and material run parameters.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot processing and equipment issues.
  • Ability to maintain high machine output and utilization.
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have 1–3+ years of plastic injection/mold experience, with at least 2 years of hands-on mold setup and machine startup experience. Candidates with backgrounds as Set-Up Technicians, Mold Set-Up Technicians, Injection Molding Technicians, Plastics Technicians, Process Technicians, or Machine Setup Technicians are strong targets.
