Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Adobe Technical Architect with strong retail domain experience to lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance digital experience solutions using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and the broader Adobe Experience Cloud / Marketing Cloud ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will architect and deliver omnichannel retail customer experiences, enable personalization at scale, and drive digital asset management (DAM) strategies to support merchandising, campaigns, and customer engagement across channels.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead end-to-end architecture for AEM-based solutions tailored to retail/eCommerce use cases, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Provide technical leadership across AEM Sites, Assets (DAM), and Adobe Experience Cloud / Marketing Cloud integrations.
  • Design and implement retail-focused digital experiences, including product discovery, promotions, personalization, and omnichannel journeys.
  • Architect and optimize Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions for retail use cases such as product catalogs, campaign assets, and brand management.
  • Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and enforce code quality governance.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, merchandising teams, marketing teams, and UX to translate retail requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Architect integrations with Adobe Experience Cloud / Marketing Cloud products, including:
    • Adobe Analytics (customer insights & retail KPIs)
    • Adobe Target (personalization & A/B testing)
    • Adobe Campaign / Journey Optimizer (marketing automation)
    • Adobe Real-Time CDP / Audience Manager (customer segmentation)
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for integrations with eCommerce platforms, PIM, OMS, CRM, and third-party systems.
  • Define best practices for AEM development (components, templates, workflows, services, OSGi).
  • Optimize dispatcher configuration, CDN caching, and performance tuning, especially for high-traffic retail environments.
  • Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Lead and mentor distributed development teams (onshore/offshore).
  • Ensure security, compliance, and data privacy standards, especially for customer and transactional data.
  • Lead AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) adoption and migration strategies.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical and performance issues in large-scale retail environments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience with 5+ years in AEM architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.x and AEM as a Cloud Service).
  • Deep expertise in Adobe Experience Cloud / Marketing Cloud ecosystem:
    • Adobe Analytics
    • Adobe Target
    • Adobe Campaign / Journey Optimizer
    • Adobe Real-Time CDP / Audience Manager
  • Proven retail / eCommerce domain experience, including:
    • Product catalog management
    • Omnichannel customer journeys
    • Promotions, pricing, and personalization
    • Integration with eCommerce platforms (e.g., SAP Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento/Adobe Commerce)
  • Strong expertise in AEM Assets (DAM) including:
    • Asset lifecycle management
    • Metadata, tagging, and taxonomy
    • Asset delivery and optimization
    • Integration with creative and marketing workflows
  • Expertise in AEM architecture components:
    • CRX/JCR, Apache Sling, OSGi (Apache Felix)
    • AEM Sites, Assets, workflows, MSM
  • Strong programming background in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, and web services.
  • Experience with frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) for architecture decisions.
  • Proven experience in API-first and microservices-based architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with dispatcher, CDN strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native architecture.
  • Expertise in Maven, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and collaboration tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) and migration from AMS/on-prem.
  • Adobe certifications (AEM Architect / Developer / Experience Cloud).
  • Experience with headless CMS, GraphQL, and SPA frameworks (React/Angular with AEM).
  • Exposure to personalization, customer journey orchestration, and marketing automation in retail.
  • Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and web performance optimization.
  • Experience in large-scale retail digital transformation programs.
