Electrical Engineer - Medical Device R&D


Location: Arden Hills, MN (Onsite)


Pay Rate: Up to $84/hour


Duration: 6-Month Contract

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV to support a high-impact project within a leading medical device R&D organization. This role focuses on the development, documentation, and validation of electrical test systems used in design verification.


You will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to build, debug, and validate automated test systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain test system documentation, including build instructions, system requirements, and bills of materials

  • Lead and support assembly, debugging, and validation of electrical test systems

  • Develop, update, and validate test methods and calibration procedures

  • Procure materials and coordinate shipment of test systems across global sites

  • Support hardware and software troubleshooting, including automated test systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables

  • Communicate project progress, risks, and technical recommendations to leadership

  • Ensure all work aligns with SOPs and quality system requirements


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 9+ years of engineering experience (or 7+ years with a Master's degree)

  • Strong background in electrical systems design, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Proven ability to analyze complex technical data and make recommendations

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • High level of accountability and initiative


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with medical device design verification and validation

  • Familiarity with FDA regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO 13485

  • Experience with LabVIEW or automated test systems

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Gage R&R)

  • Experience with electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and wiring diagrams

  • Background in document control systems
