  • Hands-on bare-metal C development.
  • Significant experience with bare-metal MCU firmware development.
  • Experience with power supply, power-management, or power-conversion firmware.
  • Experience with I2C/PMBus and/or SMBus.
  • Experience developing firmware for mission-critical or safety-critical systems.
  • Experience developing automated unit-test frameworks for embedded firmware.
  • Experience debugging firmware on actual target hardware.
  • Strong proficiency in C programming for embedded systems.
  • Experience with laboratory power supplies, electronic loads, power analyzers, and other power-electronics characterization equipment is a plus.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, debug, and enhance bare-metal C firmware for a microcontroller-based power supply controller.
  • Understand and work within an existing firmware codebase, including the current baseline and previously identified defects.
  • Analyze and resolve firmware defects through root-cause analysis, implementation, unit testing, regression testing, and verification.
  • Implement and validate incomplete or new firmware features according to approved requirements.
  • Power supply control and sequencing
  • Output-voltage and current configuration
  • Power monitoring and telemetry
  • Protection and fault handling
  • Develop and maintain PMBI²C-based command, control, configuration, and telemetry functionality
  • Work with GPIO, ADCs, timers, interrupts, communication peripherals, watchdogs, non-volatile memory and other MCU peripherals as applicable to the hardware.
  • Analyze firmware interaction with the power-conversion hardware and associated sensors/control interfaces.
  • Support bring-up, debugging, characterization, and verification of firmware on physical PSC hardware.
  • Develop automated unit tests, test harnesses, mocks and stubs for firmware modules.
  • Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices for new functionality and firmware modifications.
  • Perform regression testing following firmware changes and defect fixes.
  • Perform static analysis and resolve or disposition findings.
  • Ensure firmware conforms to JPL C coding standards and MISRA C:2023 requirements, as applicable.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop and system-level testing.
  • Analyze fault conditions and support fault-injection testing where applicable.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, firmware architecture, design reviews, defect triage, and technical discussions with the customer engineering team.
  • Contribute to firmware documentation including design descriptions, requirements, interface documentation, test procedures, and verification evidence.
  • Maintain source code, unit tests, build artifacts, and configuration under Git-based version control.
  • Support regular firmware builds and milestone releases.
  • Work closely with hardware, systems, test, and mission-assurance engineers.

 

Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. 

Note: GlobalLogic estimates the starting pay range for this role to be performed in Dallas, TX, to be $140,000 to $150,000 and reflects base salary only. This pay range is provided as a good-faith estimate, and the amount offered may be higher or lower.
