KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Hardware Engineer IV - PCB Design - RF, Wi-FI, & high-speed ethernet design

We are looking to hire a talented and hardworking Hardware Engineer to develop, design, and support our handheld network testing products. You will work across multiple products simultaneously and collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams. This role includes ownership of embedded hardware subsystems, highspeed networking interfaces, RF/WiFi modules, and nextgeneration product development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Design and develop embedded hardware subsystems for handheld network testing products, including ARMbased CPU subsystems, measurement subsystems, and highspeed networking interfaces (up to 10Gbps).
  • Perform schematic design and oversee PCB layout (executed by thirdparty partners), ensuring signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Develop hardware systems that include circuit boards, processors, memory subsystems (including DDR5), LCDs, touch screens, rechargeable batteries, and highspeed network interfaces.
  • Design analog circuits for lowvoltage power supplies, USB power delivery, battery charging, and measurement systems for resistance and PoE parameters.
  • Integrate and support FPGA logic (Altera/Intel or AMD), including VHDLbased packet processing and reuse of existing FPGA designs.
  • Collaborate with software developers during board bringup and system debugging.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineering on handheld device constraints, including thermal management, heatsink design, and overall form factor.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers (primarily in California) to resolve PCB/PCBA build questions and sign off on final board designs.
  • Create hardware design specifications, documentation, and component selection criteria for new products.
  • Specify new parts, vendors, and schematic symbols; evaluate chipsets and components during early design phases.
  • Support supply chain teams with component lifecycle management, including endoflife redesigns, alternative qualifications, and lasttimebuy decisions.
  • Interface with PLM systems for component control and billofmaterials accuracy.
  • Support currently shipping products by troubleshooting component issues, product failures, and customer escalations (thermal issues, drop failures, field bugs, etc.).
  • Work with test engineering to define factory test fixture requirements and ensure high firstpass yields (95%+).
  • Conduct early thermal modeling, bench testing, and chamber testing to validate thermal solutions.
  • Apply powerreduction techniques to extend battery life in handheld devices.
  • Support EMI/ESD compliance prescans and collaborate with external labs for FCC, CE, and global certification requirements.
  • Participate in global product releases across North America, EMEA, APAC, and other regions.
  • Ramp quickly in the first 90 days to begin schematic design for nextgeneration products, following established design milestones.
Education & Experience
  • BS or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical hardware design.
Core Hardware Engineering
  • Experience with PCB/A design for highspeed networking interfaces and embedded CPU subsystems.
  • Experience in the design of embedded CPU subsystems.
  • Ability to analyze design issues and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to solving complex problems on time.
  • Creativity to keep development schedules on track under all conditions.
HighSpeed Digital, Memory & Interfaces
  • Knowledge of highspeed communication bus design and layout techniques (USB, PCIe, XFI).
  • Familiarity with DDR2/DDR3 memory design is required; exposure to DDR5 is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of I2C, SPI, and other lowspeed communication buses.
  • Experience designing hardware for 10Gbps Ethernet and other highspeed networking interfaces.
RF, Wireless & Compliance
  • Experience with EMI and ESD compliance testing and design mitigation strategies.
  • Experience supporting global regulatory certifications (FCC, CE, EMI/ESD, etc.).
  • Background experience working with RF systems, Wi-Fi modules (Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7), or wireless test equipment is highly beneficial.
Tools, Debug & FPGA
  • Experience with Cadence Allegro schematic capture and PCB layout tools; familiarity with Altium is a plus.
  • Knowledge of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other hardware debugging equipment.
  • Experience with Altera/Intel and/or Xilinx/AMD FPGA design and VHDL is a plus.
Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Lifecycle
  • Ability to collaborate with contract manufacturers and review PCB/PCBA builds.
  • Experience managing ECO processes and working closely with supply chain on component selection and lifecycle issues.
  • Experience supporting customer escalations through structured failure analysis (thermal issues, drop failures, field bugs, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Communication skills are paramount.
  • Ability to interact effectively with engineers and operations teams to develop new products.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, peers, and customers.
Location
  • Ability to work onsite in Colorado 2-3 days per week; relocation support and signon bonus available.
Compensation depends on experience but is typically $124-171,600K
