Technical Writer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our team on a contract basis in Toledo, Ohio. In this role, you will focus on refining and improving existing documentation for manufacturing plant software. Your expertise will ensure the creation of clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly manuals and guides tailored to the needs of the steel manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities:

Analyze and evaluate existing user manuals and troubleshooting guides to identify areas for improvement.

Revise and enhance documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability.

Collaborate with technical teams to gather detailed requirements and insights.

Translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for end-users.

Ensure documentation aligns with industry standards and best practices.

Conduct reviews and updates to maintain consistency and relevance.

Develop supplementary materials, such as diagrams or charts, to enhance user comprehension.

Maintain organized records of all documentation changes and updates.

Provide recommendations to improve the overall documentation process.

Requirements

Proven experience in technical writing, particularly in manufacturing or industrial settings.
Strong ability to gather and synthesize technical information from multiple sources.
Proficiency in creating clear and concise documentation tailored for end-users.
Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail.
Familiarity with steel manufacturing processes or manufacturing software is a plus.
Experience with documentation tools and software.
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
