Oracle EBS Track & Trace Solution Expert — Metal Building Manufacturing
Location: remote {travel to customer location (Houston and Atlanta)}
Department: Operations / Supply Chain / Manufacturing Systems (Functional)
Reports To: Director of Operations Excellence / Supply Chain Systems Lead
Role Summary
We’re seeking a hands on Oracle EBS Track & Trace Solution Expert to lead adoption of scanning and traceability across coil-to-panel roll forming, trim/accessories, structural fabrication, and shipping to job sites. You will align Oracle EBS (Shipping, Inventory, Receiving, WIP) with practical, shop floor workflows—covering coil/heat/lot traceability, paint batch control, yard logistics, kitting by erection sequence, and project/job pack accuracy. Your work will measurably improve inventory accuracy, traceability completeness, throughput, and on time, in full (OTIF).
Key Responsibilities
Change Management & Adoption
• Lead business adoption for Track & Trace; ensure plant leadership, planners, warehouse, and shop floor teams understand and adopt new ways of working.
• Deliver hands on training and floor support for both process changes and the scanning toolset (e.g., Oracle Mobile, third party mobility, or Propel).
• Produce clear SOPs, one point lessons, and quick reference guides tailored for roll forming lines, structural bays, paint/finishing, and shipping/yard.
Warehouse, Yard, & Production Flow Optimization
• Partner with Operations to optimize warehouse layout, panel/trim racks, cantilever storage, outdoor yard areas, and location mapping for long goods.
• Define location strategies (slotting by job/sequence, coil quarantine/approval, remnant management) to improve picking accuracy and throughput.
• Embed scanning at material receipt (coils, beams, fasteners), staging, WIP moves, kitting, and ship confirm—aligned to job/erection sequences.
Labeling Standards & Governance
• Own labeling standards for panels, structural members, bundles, crates, and pallets—including 2D barcode symbology, data content (job, sequence, piece mark, coil/heat, color/paint batch), and print quality/durability (outdoor/industrial).
• Standardize label design templates and guide media/vendor selection (adhesion, UV/weather resistance, metal application, high temp/grease environments).
Oracle EBS Functional Expertise
• Serve as the functional Oracle EBS expert across Shipping, Inventory, Receiving, and WIP, mapping EBS transactions to real world workflows:
o Receiving: Coil lot/heat capture, MTR association, quarantine/inspection steps.
o Inventory: Subinventory/location design for warehouses, yard, panel racks, and WIP staging.
o WIP: Job/operation move transactions for roll forming, cut to length, punching, fabrication, and paint/finish; serial/lot/attributes capture.
o Shipping: Job pack completeness checks, bundle ID scans, ASN where applicable, and job site delivery rules.
• Align engineered to order BOMs, nested work orders, and backflush policies to scanning data capture.
Continuous Improvement (CIP)
• Maintain a prioritized backlog of improvements (e.g., coil remnant tracking, paint batch attribution, pick by sequence optimization, yard staging visibility).
• Track benefit realization and sustainment (accuracy, cycle time, OTIF, rework/returns reduction).
Required Qualifications
• Hands on Track & Trace implementation experience (must have).
• Oracle EBS (functional) expertise across Shipping, Inventory, Receiving, and WIP—config, transactions, and mobile workflows (not a pure technical role).
• Experience turning operational needs into practical, scan enabled process designs for high mix, engineered to order environments.
• Strong communicator comfortable with plant leadership and shop floor users.
• Experience with warehouse mobility / barcode scanning in industrial settings (rugged handhelds, industrial printers, outdoor yard use).
• Background in metal building or structural steel manufacturing (roll forming, piece marks, panel/trim, fasteners/accessories).
• Familiarity with coil/heat/lot traceability, MTR management, paint color/batch control, and bundle/build sequence labeling.
• Multi site phased rollout experience and post go live hypercare.
• Exposure to Lean/Kaizen, value stream mapping, and standard work in production & logistics.
• Understanding of relevant standards/expectations (e.g., MBMA/AISC contexts, UL/FM where applicable).
Core Skills & Competencies
• Requirements discovery, stakeholder management, and workshop facilitation on the plant floor.
• Process mapping (current → future state), with practical WIP/yard/warehouse flow design.
• Training development and delivery; creation of SOPs, job aids, and troubleshooting guides.
• Pilot planning, UAT coordination, defect triage, and cutover execution.
• Data driven problem solving; ability to define and track adoption and performance KPIs.
• Bias for action; calm under go live pressure in noisy, heavy industrial environments.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years in manufacturing/supply chain roles with Oracle EBS and Track & Trace in industrial environments.
