Director, 76th Software Engineering Group (76 SWEG)

Do you want to serve as the Director and principal executive leader for a premier defense software engineering organization? In this high-impact role, you will exercise executive managerial authority over the SWEG staff, directing elite teams of Electronic Engineers and Computer Scientists developing the critical software that powers the nation's strategic bomber fleet (B-1, B-2, B-21, B-52), the E-3 AWACS, and next-generation propulsion systems like the F135.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational & Staff Leadership: Direct work activities through subordinate supervisors and leads, providing strategic direction, planning, and mentorship for engineers and computer scientists.

- Comprehensive Software Portfolio: Oversee the lifecycle of Operational Flight Programs (OFP), Mission Support Software, Test Program Sets (TPS), Space Systems, and Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V).

- Rapid Mission Support: Direct on-site engineering assistance to resolve software deficiencies, conduct feasibility automation studies, and manage configurations for automated systems.

- Strategic & Acquisition Oversight: Coordinate software acquisition programs with AFMC and other DoD agencies, lead customer workload negotiations, and establish Memorandums of Agreement.

Who You Are

- An experienced leader of leaders capable of managing complex, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and fostering a culture of innovation.

- A technical powerhouse with deep knowledge of avionics software development, assembly/high-order programming languages, or automatic test systems.

- A strategic communicator skilled at navigating high-level defense acquisitions, negotiating workloads, and advising senior military stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain a Top Secret security clearance

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

- Work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid license may be required for the position.

- Subject to recall during non-duty hours, weekends, and holidays to complete proposals and/or resolve software problems

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Professional knowledge of electronics engineering and/or computer science concepts, theories, principles, and

practices and working knowledge of other technical disciplines, such as information technology, aerospace,

industrial, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering; of a broad range of engineering standards, precedents,

methods, and techniques to ensure work in compliance with regulations and standards; and the applicability of

such knowledge to the full range of duties concerned with the development, acquisition, implementation and

sustainment of a cybersecure, digital environment in the depot sustainment activity.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Ability to utilize Art of the Possible concepts and initiatives to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

5. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, standard configuration and finding regulations, practices and processes

related to system acquisition and sustainment management functions.
