Summary

The MEP Manager serves as the technical authority and operational leader responsible for ensuring continuous uptime, optimal performance, and operational excellence across data center facilities. Acting as the Owner’s Representative and Primary Point of Contact (PPC), this role partners closely with Construction, Critical Infrastructure, and Operations teams to deliver world-class reliability and compliance throughout design, construction, commissioning, and steady-state operations.

 

As a subject matter expert and key decision-maker, the MEP Manager drives best practices, oversees critical systems, leads teams, and sets the strategic direction for infrastructure operations to meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and availability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Construction & Commissioning Leadership

  • Serve as the Primary Point of Contact (PPC) and Owner’s Representative on site for all MEP-related activities
  • Collaborate with Construction and Critical Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless project execution and transition to operations
  • Verify that all MEP systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with Databank standards
  • Act as PPC for Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and oversee acceptance of critical equipment

 

Process & Standards Leadership

  • Establish, review, and continuously improve operational processes, standards, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure consistency, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across all facility operations
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence

 

Strategic Project & Capacity Management

  • Lead planning and execution of infrastructure projects and customer deployments
  • Oversee capacity planning and allocation of space, power, and network resources to support customer and business growth
  • Provide technical oversight for expansions, retrofits, and customer-specific solutions

 

Technical Operations Oversight

  • Manage day-to-day operation of all mission-critical infrastructure, including:
  • Electrical power systems and distribution
  • UPS and generator systems
  • Mechanical, HVAC, and cooling systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) and environmental controls
  • Ensure systems operate at peak performance while maintaining redundancy and resilience

 

Performance Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics, facility performance data, and technical status reports
  • Communicate risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to leadership and key stakeholders

 

Customer Integration & Support

  • Provide expert technical guidance for customer onboarding, integrations, and ongoing support
  • Ensure seamless implementation of customer solutions while maintaining facility availability and performance

 

Incident & Emergency Management

  • Lead incident response and problem resolution efforts for critical events and emergencies
  • Ensure rapid restoration of services with minimal impact to uptime and customer operations
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop engineering and facilities staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational discipline

 

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18000
  • Support audits, inspections, and certification efforts
  • Promote best practices in safety, quality, and environmental management

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in data center operations, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical environments
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience managing technical teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field; equivalent experience considered
  • Expert-level knowledge of:
  • UPS and generator systems
  • Power distribution equipment
  • Mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, safety regulations, and quality management systems, including ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18000
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure, uptime-critical environments
  • Excellent verbal, written, and technical presentation skills
  • High proficiency in developing operational documentation, proposals, and technical reports
