Workday Integration Developer (Techno-Functional) || || Chicago, IL

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Workday Integration Developer (Techno-Functional) with strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting integrations across multiple Workday modules including HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Talent. This role requires deep technical integration expertise combined with functional understanding of Workday business processes. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building complex inbound and outbound integrations, troubleshooting production issues, and partnering with HR and Payroll stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

• Design, develop, and maintain Workday integrations using:

  • Workday Studio

  • EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder)

  • Core Connectors

  • Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST)

  • BIRT reporting

• Build inbound and outbound integrations across:

  • Core HCM

  • Payroll

  • Benefits

  • Talent / Recruiting

  • Time Tracking (if applicable)

• Develop and support integrations with third-party vendors including payroll providers, benefits administrators, banking institutions, background check vendors, and external HR systems.
• Work closely with HR, Payroll, and Benefits teams to gather requirements and translate functional needs into technical integration solutions.
• Configure and support Workday Business Process Framework (BPF) workflows and security roles as needed.
• Perform data transformations using XSLT and XML.
• Build and maintain calculated fields and custom reports to support integration requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures, data mismatches, and performance issues.
• Participate in Workday releases and perform regression testing.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy, and audit requirements.
• Document technical design specifications and maintain integration architecture diagrams.

• 6+ years of Workday integration development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Workday Studio and Core Connectors.

Proven experience across Workday modules:

• HCM

• Payroll

• Benefits

• Talent / Recruiting

• Experience building and consuming REST/SOAP APIs.
• Strong knowledge of XML, XSLT, and data transformation logic.
• Experience with Workday security model and business process configuration.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integration and payroll-related issues.
• Experience supporting post-production environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work onsite 3 days per week.

• Workday Integration Certification.
• Experience with PECI, PICOF, Benefits Connectors.
• Experience integrating Workday with ADP, Fidelity, banking systems, or healthcare vendors.
• Experience with AWS/Azure integration environments (optional).
• Exposure to Workday Prism Analytics (nice to have).
