Summary

We are seeking a Material Qualification Engineer to support the evaluation and qualification of new materials introduced by the Sourcing Team. This role helps ensure materials meet technical, quality, and process needs before moving into production. You'll develop and run qualification plans, perform material testing, and collaborate with teams across Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D.

Job Duties
  • Material evaluation and testing: Design and execute comprehensive test plans to evaluate new materials' mechanical, thermal ,electrical and optical properties. Perform root cause anlysis and material failure analysis if there is any.
  • Qualification and documentation: Help to provide the detailed qualification reports, test data and validation documentations. Ensure material meets internal specifications, regulatory requirements, and production standards.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with sourcing, RD, quality and manufacturing teams to understand material requirements and support design-for-manufacturing goals.
  • Supplier engagement: communicate technical requirements and performance expectations to material suppliers.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science, Optoelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience or coursework involving material testing methods (tensile, thermal, aging, corrosion, microscopy, etc.).
Comfortable working with lab instruments and data analysis tools.
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Familiarity with ISO, ASTM, or industry-specific material standards is a plus.

Location

This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
