This position is a member of our
Water Quality Division.
HERE S WHAT YOU LL BE DOING - Review public water systems to make sure they meet all state and federal rules. You ll review technical information both in the office and onsite, handle everything from routine to complex systems, and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Provide expert engineering help to public water systems and customers. You ll answer questions and provide guidance on requests and submittals in person, online, by email, and during onsite visits and presentations.
- Deliver excellent customer service for our drinking water program. You ll communicate with customers, prepare reports, give presentations, and respond to public information requests.
- Serve as a senior expert and mentor. You ll provide advanced guidance and training to staff and customers, help coordinate work on specific projects, and be the goto expert for your assigned program areas.
- Leads special projects that improve how we work. You ll help develop regulations, collect data, write rules, support legislative work, and drive improvements for your Section and Division.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Engineer I: Texas Professional Engineer's license
- Engineer II: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus one year of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.
Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer I.
- Engineer III: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.
Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.
- Engineer IV: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus three years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.
Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer III.
- Engineer V: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus four years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.
Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer IV.
Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
