Summary

Welty Energy is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer II to join our Energy team!

Who is Welty Energy?

Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV.

Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.

As a Transmission Line Engineer II, you will design high voltage transmission lines (34kV - 500kV).

While this position can be remote the hired team member is to be based in the state of OH, VA, WV, MD, PA (currently). Relocation and sponsorship is unfortunately not provided at this time.

Day to day, you may:
  • Prepare construction plan documents as required per project.
  • Perform analysis/modeling of wood, steel, and lattice structures.
  • You will be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.
  • Perform site visits when necessary.
  • Interface with client's engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates.
  • Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President.
  • Share knowledge and train oncoming Transmission Line Engineers.
  • Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms.
  • Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.
  • Timesheet entries and expenses to be appropriately applied to corresponding projects and should be submitted weekly.

What we require:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Transmission Line Engineer
  • EIT Certification with the intention to pursue PE license
  • 15-20% travel (project specific)
  • PE License preferred but not required

  • Any need for meetings should be determined by the appropriate Project Engineering Lead and Executive Vice President
