Senior Development Leader leads the IT team(s) in the analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software.
This job interacts with executive leadership and makes decisions that have a considerable impact on the overall success or failure of their area of accountability. This job owns short to mid-term strategy execution and operational direction in alignment with organization objectives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Responsible for managing teams who analyze detailed business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for applications.
- Oversees multiple teams who are responsible for coding internally developed applications and/or configuring commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) applications using programming, scripting, and database languages.
- Supporting application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by enabling teams who are responsible for correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements.
- Roles at this level should be managing People Leaders and have a span of control of at least 5 full-time employee direct reports. Typically manages one or more groups that has a moderate to high impact on divisional business results.
- Implements policies and procedures for the areas they manage; may participate with other areas in establishing broader policies and processes.
- Large contribution to strategic planning within an area of expertise.
- Provides advice to internal and/or external clients on implications of business trends, issues, operating environment changes and firm or business unit strategy.
- Manages the performance of direct reports through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure the delivery of projects and engagement, motivation and development of the team.

POSITION SUMMARY:This Managing Director - Head of Finance Technology will serve as the central executive leader for Finance technology, unifying three Finance leads currently reporting to the Head of Corporate Technology under a cohesive transformation-focused operating model. This role will lead the strategic planning and execution of AmpliFi, TIAA's multi-year, multi-million dollar finance transformation launching in 2026, overseeing ERP replacement, system integration, and enterprise-wide technology modernization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Establishing unified leadership and governance across Finance technology teams: Driving transformation strategy in partnership with Finance, Technology, and Business leaders; overseeing ERP implementation and vendor relationships; providing strategic direction to the team in India who leads technical delivery; managing executive-level stakeholder relationships; establishing program governance and accountability frameworks across 11+ workstreams; and leading organizational change management to ensure sustainable adoption.
- ERP Implementation Expertise: This requires deep, hands-on experience leading large-scale ERP implementations (Oracle, SAP, Workday), with specialized expertise in multi-year ERP replacement programs, system integrator management, and complex cutover planning.
- Transformation Leadership at Scale: Will serve as the single executive accountable for a multi-million dollar, multi-year, enterprise-wide transformation of this magnitude and strategic importance.
- Global Delivery Model Experience: This role requires proven ability to lead geographically distributed teams and partner with India technical delivery organizations.
- Executive Presence & Influence: This Managing Director must operate at the CFO/C-suite level, influencing senior stakeholders and navigating complex organizational politics.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 10+ years of Finance Technology experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or relevant field.
