Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) who will own full execution delivery of a legacy-to-cloud modernization program migrating SAP MII manufacturing reporting to a modern data and application platform. This is a hands-on technical delivery role, not a pure coordination role: the TPM is directly accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery of the entire program and must have real SAP MII development experience — enough to open the existing MII workbench, read the transactions/BLS/query templates directly, and form an independent view of what is actually implemented today.
This hands-on background is what lets the TPM validate the delivery team''s understanding of the legacy system, catch misinterpretations early, and give informed recommendations on migration approach — rather than relying entirely on the team''s own assessment of the legacy code.
The TPM will bridge business stakeholders, the architecture team, and delivery engineers — translating scope into an executable plan, managing risk and dependencies, and holding the delivery team accountable to milestones.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Delivery Ownership
Own full execution delivery of the program end-to-end — discovery through hypercare/knowledge transfer
Be accountable for schedule, budget, quality, and scope across all delivery stages
Escalate and resolve cross-team blockers (data, application, infrastructure, business) quickly
Own the delivery plan, RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), and status reporting to steering committee/stakeholders
2. SAP MII & Legacy System Expertise
Bring hands-on SAP MII development background (not just conceptual knowledge) — able to personally read and review existing transactions, BLS, query templates, and dashboard/screen logic to understand what is actually implemented today
Independently assess the current MII implementation, work with Architects to design the new application
Provide technical recommendations on migration approach, sequencing, and risk based on direct review of the existing MII codebase, not just secondhand summaries
Partner with technical SMEs and architects to validate complexity scoring, migration wave sequencing, and functional parity requirements against legacy MII screens
Understand shop-floor/plant integration concepts (MES, historian data, real-time tag data) well enough to plan around their constraints
Represent legacy-system risk and nuance in planning discussions with architects and business stakeholders, grounded in first-hand knowledge of the existing system
3. Full Stack Project & Delivery Management
Manage delivery across the full technical stack: data ingestion/platform, middleware/APIs, and front-end/application layers
Review code written by developers across the stack (data pipelines, APIs/middleware, front-end) to verify quality, catch issues early, and confirm work matches the agreed design — not just track status secondhand
Hands-on and personally write code when needed — to unblock the team, patch a critical issue, or validate a fix — rather than relying solely on developers to resolve every technical blocker
Coordinate across data engineers, full stack/application developers, QA, and architecture to keep parallel workstreams aligned
Plan and track wave-based/phased migration delivery, including UAT, reconciliation, and incremental production deployment
Manage environment, release, and deployment planning across data and application components
4. Stakeholder & Governance Management
Serve as primary point of contact for business and IT stakeholders on delivery status
Run governance cadences (steering committee updates, program reviews, delivery team stand-ups)
Manage RACI, resourcing, and dependency tracking across client and delivery teams
Coordinate UAT sign-off, hypercare, and knowledge transfer to ensure clean handover/ownership transition
5. Risk, Scope & Change Management
Proactively identify delivery risk (technical, resourcing, scope) and drive mitigation
Manage change requests and scope variance against the agreed baseline
Ensure quality gates (parity validation, reconciliation vs. legacy system) are met before go-live at each wave
Required Skills
Core Expertise
Proven experience owning full execution delivery of a technical program (not just tracking/coordinating one)
Hands-on SAP MII development experience — able to personally read, trace, and reason about existing transactions, BLS, query templates, and screen/dashboard logic, not just describe MII concepts at a high level
Demonstrated ability to independently verify a delivery team''s technical understanding of legacy code and to form and defend an independent recommendation
Able to review developers'' code across the stack and, when necessary, personally write or fix code — this is a working technical role, not purely oversight
Experience managing full stack projects: data/backend and front-end/application delivery together, not one in isolation
Delivery & Program Management
Strong command of project management fundamentals: planning, RAID management, resourcing, status reporting
Experience with wave-based/phased migration delivery models
Experience managing UAT, reconciliation/parity validation, and cutover processes
Technical Fluency (Years of Experience Expected)
SAP MII development (transactions, BLS, query templates, Illuminator) — 5+ years hands-on
SQL — 5+ years
Manufacturing/plant systems: MES integration, historian/real-time tag data (e.g., Wonderware) — 3+ years
Modern data platforms — Microsoft Fabric (Eventhouse/KQL, Lakehouse) or equivalent (Databricks, Snowflake) — 2+ years
APIs/middleware (.NET, Node, or similar) — 2+ years
Modern front-end frameworks (React or equivalent) — 2+ years
Tools (Years of Experience Expected)
Project/program management tooling — Jira, Azure DevOps, or MS Project — 5+ years
CI/CD and release management (Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar) — 2+ years
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification
SAP MII/ME or Digital Manufacturing certification
Prior experience delivering a legacy ERP/manufacturing-system-to-cloud modernization program
Experience managing delivery teams using AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
Experience Required
12+ years of overall software industry experience
8+ years total experience, spanning hands-on SAP MII development and project/delivery management
5+ years as a hands-on SAP MII developer (transactions, BLS, query templates) before/alongside moving into delivery leadership — this should not be purely a PM background with secondhand MII exposure
Demonstrated experience owning delivery of full stack projects (data + application layers) end-to-end
