Job Description

The Ground Data Systems and Services Organization is responsible for the architecture, development, deployment, and operation of Ground Data Systems (GDS) across all customer programs. We provide secure, scalable, and standardized solutions for programs across the Commercial Civil Space line of business, serving as a centralized hub of engineering expertise that enables mission success through innovative, cost-competitive, technologies and services.

This position is for a Software Engineer for operational support and software development for the Ground Data Lake (GDL) team of the GDS org in the Orion program. This position is in support of NASA's Artemis missions: Artemis 3, Artemis 4, Artemis 5 and any future missions in development.

This position will support development of big data tools and a data lake software architecture throughout a full stack, focusing more on backend and infrastructure work with occasional support required to develop and maintain tools including command line, GUI-based, and web-based applications that perform spacecraft telemetry data processing and analysis. All tasks will require working closely with the end users of all tools and responding to their feedback.

You will be a critical member on exciting, cutting-edge missions to bring humans back to the moon!

The primary responsibilities will include:
Perform software code, unit test, and integration test development for a full stack data lake product supporting spacecraft test, analysis and operations
Support software requirements development and formal verification development and tests
Assist in operational support to spacecraft teams to deployed environments, including internally developed and 3rd party ground software. Includes ensuring real-time dataflows, data management process, querying processes, command building tools, and analysis tools
Support troubleshooting of deployed ground system hardware, operating systems, and networks, coordinating with System Admins to resolve issues
Perform SW development and maintenance in a variety of languages (Go, Python)
Develop web-based RESTful services, GUI interfaces, tools to transform data, automation pipelines for spacecraft operations, and more
Deploy and integrate software to operational environments, and provide operational support to systems and subsystems engineers within Orion
Perform tasks in accordance with Orion and Lockheed Martin software development best practices and defined SW development processes
Investigate opportunities to integrate AI into data processing and data analysis.

- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks for GUI development
- Experience with container and cloud-based technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with networking and installation of cloud systems requiring 24 hour uptime
- Experience working with sysadmins and performing sysadmin tasks
- Experience working under an Agile Framework (Scrum)
- Experience with integration testing
- Experience in developing SW for support of spacecraft operations, including telemetry and data processing, data analysis
- Experience working Ground Data Systems in support of spacecraft operations

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $76,500 - $134,895. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
