Summary
Job Title: Enterprise Architect (Cryptocurrency)
Location: Remote
Work Model: Remote (with travel to Buffalo, NY every 4-6 weeks)
No C2C, C2H, 1099 or Visa Sponsorship/Transfer available
Nature & Scope:
Positional Overview
We are seeking a visionary Enterprise Architect to lead architecture strategy and design for digital asset and stablecoin capabilities within a regulated U.S. banking environment.
This role is responsible for defining targetstate architectures, reference patterns, and guardrails for stablecoin and digital asset platforms, including integration with core banking, payments, custody, compliance, and risk systems. The scope may include stablecoin issuance, thirdparty stablecoin integration, and/or consumption of stablecoin rails for payments and settlement, depending on business strategy.
The ideal candidate brings deep enterprise architecture experience, handson understanding of blockchain and stablecoin technology stacks, and demonstrated ability to navigate regulatory, risk, and operational scrutiny typical of large financial institutions.

Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Define and maintain targetstate and transitional architectures for digital asset and stablecoin capabilities across the enterprise.
- Establish reference architectures, standards, and architectural guardrails for blockchain and stablecoin usage.
- Review and govern solution designs involving digital assets through architecture review boards and SDLC processes.
- Drive architectural clarity across lines of business, preventing fragmented or adhoc crypto implementations.
Stablecoin & Digital Asset Architecture
- Design endtoend architectures for stablecoin platforms, including:
- Onchain smart contracts and token models
- Offchain orchestration, ledgering, and reconciliation
- Wallet and custody integration
- Mint, burn, redemption, and settlement flows
- Define integration patterns between blockchain platforms and:
- Core banking and general ledger systems
- Payments rails (ACH, Fedwire, RTP, internal book transfer)
- Liquidity management and treasury systems
- Guide architectural decisions across public, permissioned, and hybrid blockchain models.
Crypto / Stablecoin Technology Stack
- Provide architectural leadership across the full digital asset stack, including:
- Blockchain networks (e.g., EVMbased public or permissioned networks, Layer2s)
- Token standards and permissioning models (e.g., ERC20, permissioned tokens)
- Smart contract controls (upgradeability, pause/list, rolebased access)
- Middleware for transaction monitoring, indexing, and offchain synchronization
- API and eventdriven integration patterns
- Cloudnative platforms (Azure/AWS), containerization, and secure key management
Security, Risk, and Compliance
- Embed bankgrade security controls into all digital asset architectures, including:
- Private key lifecycle management and HSM integration
- Segregation of duties, dual control, and transaction signing policies
- Wallet tiering strategies (hot/warm/cold)
- Resilience, failover, and incident response for onchain and offchain components
- Ensure architectures align with U.S. banking regulatory expectations, including:
- BSA/AML and OFAC sanctions enforcement
- Travel Rule compliance
- NYDFS cybersecurity requirements
- Operational resilience, auditability, and examiner transparency
- Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit teams to support approvals and examinations.
Strategic Advisory & Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technology and business leaders on digital asset strategy.
- Evaluate vendors, custodians, analytics providers, and blockchain platforms through an enterprise and risk lens.
- Assess emerging technologies (e.g., tokenized deposits, permissioned DeFi constructs, CBDC pilots) and provide clear recommendations on applicability and risk.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Education: Bachelor s/master s in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of enterprise architecture experience in large, complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing or governing digital asset, blockchain, or stablecoin platforms in financial services, fintech, or regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of stablecoin models, including reservebacked issuance, redemption mechanics, and settlement flows.
- Handson architectural experience with:
- Blockchain platforms and smart contracts
- APIdriven and eventdriven integration
- Cloudnative architectures (Azure)
- Security architecture for highrisk financial systems
- Experience engaging with risk, compliance, audit, and regulators on novel technology architectures.
- Strong executivelevel communication skills with the ability to explain complex architectures clearly and credibly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with:
- Stablecoin issuers, custodians, or digital asset infrastructure providers
- Payment modernization or realtime settlement platforms
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Cloud or security certifications (Azure Architect, securityfocused credentials).
- Prior experience influencing enterprisewide technology standards or governance.
