What You'll Do: - Design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions tailored to evolving business needs
- Install, configure, and upgrade database systems, ensuring seamless performance and security
- Monitor and fine-tune database performance, queries, indexes, and schemas for reliability and speed
- Implement and uphold database security protocols to protect sensitive information
- Collaborate closely with application developers to refine schema design and SQL optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents promptly across various environments
- Maintain clear documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
- Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements
- Manage cloud-based database infrastructure on AWS (RDS, Aurora, Redshift)
- Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices to continually improve our data landscape
Essential Skills & Qualifications: - Proven experience as a Database Engineer or DBA with strong AWS and IaC expertise
- Deep knowledge of DBMSs such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Redshift
- Proficiency in SQL query optimization and data modeling principles
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, backup/restoration, and disaster recovery
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Nice-to-Have Skills: - Understanding of AWS networking fundamentals
- Experience with Terraform Cloud and automation workflows
- Scripting proficiency in Python or Shell
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for databases using Bamboo, Flyway, or similar tools
Preferred Education & Experience: - Relevant Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
- Several years of professional experience working with cloud-based database systems and infrastructure
Additional Requirements: - Ability to work onsite in Foster City, CA, and flexible hours to support operational needs and incident resolution
- Willingness to undergo background and drug screening upon offer
