Job Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and continuously improving supplier quality activities across raw materials, packaging materials, contract manufacturers, laboratories, and GMP service providers. This role ensures suppliers meet contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements while driving corrective actions, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and external partners to ensure robust supplier quality systems and reliable product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and lead supplier quality activities to ensure compliance with contractual, purchase order, and regulatory requirements
Translate engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements into effective supplier quality controls, procedures, and acceptance criteria
Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality evaluation systems, inspection plans, and control protocols for raw, in-process, and finished materials
Monitor and assess supplier quality performance through audits, source inspections, surveillance activities, and validation at supplier facilities
Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits, including third-party manufacturers and special process audits, as part of supplier qualification and ongoing oversight
Support supplier selection, onboarding, due diligence, and new capability assessments, including review and challenge of supplier accreditations and certifications
Review, track, and ensure supplier and subcontractor approvals remain current; obtain updated approvals or certifications as required
Lead the control, disposition, and investigation of nonconforming material, including Material Review Board (MRB) activities
Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, FMEA, Fault Tree)
Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure documentation meets internal, customer, and regulatory requirements
Perform and support First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve design, manufacturing, and business processes
Prepare, maintain, and update procurement quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory standards
Maintain strong feedback loops with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure continuous quality improvement
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience)
Experience in quality engineering, including development and review of quality requirements, standards, procedures, work instructions, and control plans
Hands-on experience performing Design and/or Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D/PFMEA)
Strong understanding of process audits, product audits, and procedure compliance assessments
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards
Knowledge of inspection methods for electronic circuit cards and electro-mechanical assemblies
Experience managing nonconforming material and MRB processes
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams for root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action
Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems
Experience performing First Article Inspections to AS9102
Experience in supplier quality assurance and supplier performance management
Experience working with government or regulated customers (e.g., aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries)
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills in hybrid (remote and onsite) environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Project, Visio)
Understanding of special processes and effective day-to-day supplier management
Preferred Qualifications
Certification or training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
Experience auditing sub-tier suppliers and subcontractors
Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments and complex supply chains
