Job Overview: As a Dimensional Engineer on the hardware team, you will support the development and production of state-of-the-art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms, and sensor integration solutions that will create transformative experiences for Virtual and Augmented Reality users. You will be part of a team exploring new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping. This role involves working on cutting-edge technologies with a diverse cross-functional team of engineers and scientists pioneering mechanical, electrical, optical, materials, firmware, software, and computer vision solutions. We value individuals who excel in teamwork, can brainstorm innovative ideas, drive concepts into prototypes, and envision how those prototypes could transition into high-volume consumer products.
Responsibilities: - Lead or contribute to geometry control solutions, including 3D dimensional analysis and datum coordination to support functional and manufacturing build strategies.
- Lead tolerance analysis and GD&T development efforts with the design team, developing and sharing best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate concepts and detailed designs.
- Apply rigorous variation simulation modeling to solve challenging design problems.
- Contribute to robust measurement plan execution by supporting gage R&R studies with suppliers, authoring/reviewing MSOPs, and collaborating with metrology teams.
Qualifications: - BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing 3D variation simulation analyses using software such as Siemens VA (VisVSA), 3DCS, or CETOL.
- 5+ years of industry/academic experience.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.).
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, and associated metrology.
- Experience working on design teams throughout the product lifecycle (concept to start of production).
Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of dimensional engineering experience, specifically with the application of GD&T and development of 3D variation simulation analyses (VisVSA preferred).
- 3+ years of experience working on high-volume products such as consumer tech, automotive, aerospace, consumer appliances, or medical devices.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling (NX preferred).
- Experience creating scripts or algorithms to support measurement data analysis and assembly simulation requirements.
- Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, and other statistical methods required to support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience using statistical software such as Minitab, Quantum XL, or JMP.
