Network Support Engineer
Summary
Our client is seeking a Network Support Engineer for a short-term, 90-day engagement to provide hands-on operational support for the existing network infrastructure at our Laurel, MT facility. This role is focused on network stability, incident response, monitoring, and operational continuity.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, clear communication abilities, and experience supporting enterprise LAN, WAN, firewall, and wireless environments.
Key Responsibilities
During this 90-day engagement, the Network Support Engineer will:
Provide day-to-day operational support for local site network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, wireless, and perimeter security).
Monitor, log, track, and resolve network-related incidents and performance issues, escalating when appropriate.
Perform network troubleshooting and root cause analysis for outages, latency, and connectivity issues.
Support and maintain network hardware and configurations, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
Assist with network changes, moves/adds/changes, and configuration updates following established change and security processes.
Maintain and update network documentation and Visio diagrams to reflect current-state configurations.
Collaborate with central IT, vendors, and site stakeholders to ensure network reliability and minimal business disruption.
Follow established security, patching, and vulnerability management processes as they apply to network devices.
Provide knowledge transfer and operational handoff documentation at the conclusion of the 90-day engagement.
Work occasional off-hours or non-traditional hours as needed to minimize production impact during network work.
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
Hands-on experience with:
o LAN architecture and support
o VLANs, TCP/IP, routing, and switching
o Network troubleshooting and incident resolution
Ability to clearly communicate technical issues to both IT and non-IT stakeholders.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco experience (CCNA or equivalent knowledge)
Experience with:
o Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto)
o SNMP, syslog, SSH
o Wireless networking support
o Network monitoring and packet analysis tools
Familiarity with ITIL-based operational support environments
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing appropriate PPE

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $52.00/hr.
