Senior Software Engineer (Mainframe / Print Systems)

12+Month Contract
Scope of work includes complex components of software solutions, focused on mainframe-based print products. This role involves solving complex engineering problems, contributing to design and development using modern approaches, and supporting business needs through efficient, high-quality solutions. Requires strong judgment within established policies and active participation in improving processes, tools, and team outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and support print-related products on the mainframe platform
- Code, test, debug, and enhance applications while following established workflows
- Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions
- Make recommendations on priorities, design improvements, and problem resolution
- Participate in and lead code reviews, design discussions, and project planning activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and service support
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Ensure development is completed on time, within scope, and meets cost and quality goals
- Define and implement alternative solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of systems, processes, and decisions
- Contribute to organizational and project objectives aligned with business needs
- Continuously improve development processes, tools, and workflows

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Significant experience in software development, system design, and integration
- Strong knowledge of mainframe technologies (z/OS, PLX, Assembler preferred)
- Ability to solve complex software engineering problems and make impactful decisions
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and project planning skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and process discipline
- Experience reviewing code, identifying improvements, and ensuring quality standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on root cause identification
- Ability to work independently and within multi-functional teams
