Overview
The Enterprise Data Engineer will be responsible for building and optimizing the organization s data infrastructure in support of a large-scale enterprise systems transformation initiative. This initiative focuses on implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 to unify systems, standardize processes, and improve real-time data visibility across the organization.
In this role, the Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and centralized data platforms (data lake and data warehouse), consolidating data from Dynamics 365 and legacy systems into a scalable, unified source of truth.
Experience and Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
- 3 5 yearsof hands-on experience in thedesign, development, and support of data pipelines(ETL/ELT processes).
- 3 5 yearsof experience writing and optimizingSQL (T-SQL) queriesand working withMicrosoft SQL Serveror similar relational databases.
- 1 3 yearsof experience indata modeling and database design.
- Prior experience in private equity backed industrial or multi-business-unit companiesis a plus.
Skill Requirements
- Strong SQL programming skills, particularly withMicrosoft SQL Server, including the ability to write efficient T-SQL queries, create stored procedures, and perform performance tuning on database operations.
- Hands-on experience withAzure Synapse Analyticsor similar cloud data warehousing technologies, including using Synapse or Azure Data Factory to create and orchestrate data pipelines, transform data at scale, and manage data lakes/warehouses.
- Familiarity withMicrosoft D365(Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, and/or Customer Engagement) or similar ERP/CRM systems.
- Proficient inMicrosoft Power BIor comparable BI visualization tools, including an understanding how Power BI datasets and dataflows work.
- Knowledge ofDAXand Power BI performance tuning is a plus, as is experience with SSRS or other Microsoft BI stack components (e.g. SSIS/SSAS).
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and tools.
- Experience with master data management or data cataloging in a unified data environment.
- Familiarity with data quality and profiling tools (i.e. using SQL or Python to implement data validation).
- Comfort with a programming or scripting language (e.g.,Python,PySpark, or SQL scripts) to transform and manipulate data within pipelines.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT processes that ingest and transform data from multiple sources (including Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and legacy systems) into the organization s Azure Synapse data lake and data warehouse.
- Implement data cleansing, validation rules, and quality checks to ensure data from various business units and systems is accurate, consistent, and ready for enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Contribute to the design and expansion of enterprise data models and schemas (e.g., star schema in the data warehouse) to support evolving reporting needs and standardized business processes.
- Partner with analytics and BI teams to enable self-service reporting and advanced analytics capabilities.
- Prepare curated datasets for Power BI dashboards by writing efficient SQL queries and developing new data pipeline components as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, data scientists, and ERP specialists to understand data requirements tied to enterprise system implementations and business initiatives.
- Follow and promote best practices in data engineering and analytics development (version control, code reviews, documentation) while continuously optimizing existing data processes.
Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
