We are seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents that enhance and orchestrate endtoend trading and quantitative research workflows. This role sits at the intersection of AI systems engineering, quantitative finance, and trading infrastructure, enabling traders and quants to move faster from idea to execution while maintaining rigorous risk and compliance standards.
You will architect agentic systems that reason, plan, observe, and act across complex trading environments, integrating market data, research tools, execution platforms, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Lead AI Engineer to oversee 4 other developers at a major hedge fund in the trading systems environment
I have this wonderful FULL-TIME job where you will learn a lot and grow rapidly with a fintech AI start-up. Seeking someone who is an expert, hands-on developer for AI/ML systems. Someone who can lead a team of 4 developers. You will be working onsite with a top hedge fund in the trading environment with the traders. This job requires a with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Must be very hands-on developer (though you will probably be coding under 30% of the time; to handle the most complex coding that more junior developers cannot handle). This position requires deep interaction with the traders and quants and risk managers. Someone with 8-12 years of experience would be the sweet spot.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical lead deployed at a top hedge fund client located in Hudson Yards
- Manage and mentor a team of 4 AI Engineers onsite with heavy usage of Python with respective AI/ML libraries
- Oversee AI deployment, implementation, and ongoing optimization in a high-stakes financial environment
- Act as the key liaison between the AI company and senior stakeholders at the hedge fund
- Provide hands-on technical leadership while contributing to architecture and problem-solving
- Navigate complex client environments with professionalism and strong communication
Requirements:
- Deep experience in AI/ML deployment in production environments
- Proven team management experience
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Prior experience in the financial industry (hedge fund preferred); prefer trading environment
- Alternatively, strong experience from a top-tier technology company will be considered
- Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in NYC
- Knowledge of Agentic AI; development of AI Agents for traders
- 8-12 years experience.
