OverviewJob SummaryGalapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for a Mission Partner Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME) Congressional Affairs Analyst position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
The ideal candidate will provide analytical, advisory, and integration support to SAF/SQ (Office of the Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition & Integration). The position supports the development, coordination, and delivery of Congressional correspondence, briefings, and information requests related to Air Force and Space Force acquisition programs, policies, and strategic initiatives.
This role serves as a liaison between acquisition of program offices, senior leadership, and Congressional stakeholders, ensuring accurate, timely, and policy-aligned responses to Congressional inquiries and oversight activities. The analyst integrates technical program data, acquisition strategy, and legislative requirements to inform leadership decision-making and Congressional engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Congressional Affairs Analyst will:
- Provide subject matter expertise and analytical support to SAF/SQ (Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration) on matters related to Congressional inquiries, legislative oversight, and acquisition program integration
- Analyze and coordinate responses to Congressional Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), and Congressional correspondence related to Air Force and Space Force acquisition programs
- Develop and coordinate briefing materials, executive summaries, and Congressional hearing preparation packages for senior Department of the Air Force leadership
- Integrate technical, programmatic, and budgetary information from program offices, headquarters staff, and acquisition stakeholders to support accurate Congressional responses
- Review and analyze National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) provisions, committee reports, and legislative language impacting Air Force and Space Force acquisition initiatives
- Coordinate across SAF/SQ, SAF/AQ, SAF/LL, Space Systems Command, and other DoW stakeholders to ensure responses align with Department of the Air Force policy and strategic messaging
- Track and manage Congressional taskers, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required information
- Support development of program summaries, issue papers, and leadership decision briefs related to acquisition and integration efforts
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership on legislative impacts, Congressional concerns, and program oversight trends
- Maintain awareness of Congressional committee priorities, defense policy developments, and acquisition oversight activities affecting Air Force and Space Force programs
ResponsibilitiesSkills and ExperienceThe Congressional Affairs Analyst must have:
- Active TS/SCI
- Experience supporting DoW, Air Force, or Space Force headquarters organizations, particularly within acquisition, policy, or legislative affairs environments
- Knowledge of DoW acquisition processes, major defense acquisition programs (MDAPs), and the Defense Acquisition System
- Familiarity with Congressional processes, defense oversight, and legislative analysis, including interaction with committees such as HASC, SASC, HAC-D, and SAC-D
- Demonstrated ability to prepare high-level briefings, reports, and written correspondence for senior government leadership and Congressional stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize technical program data, budget information, and policy guidance into concise products
- Experience coordinating across multiple organizations, program offices, and senior-level stakeholders in complex DoW environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex acquisition and technical topics for non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational and task management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent Congressional taskers and deadlines
- Experience analyzing defense policy, legislative language, and acquisition program impacts to inform leadership decision-making
Education and CertificationsThe Congressional Affairs Analyst must meet the following:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in political science, Public Policy, National Security Studies, Aerospace Engineering, Business or Public Administration, International Relations, or Defense Studies
Preferred
- Master's degree in public policy (MPP), Public Administration (MPA), National Security / Strategic Studies, Aerospace or Systems Engineering, or Defense Acquisition Management
- DAWIA / Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) (for budget analysis roles)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (if supporting cybersecurity-related programs)

Security Clearance A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
