Summary

Position Summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 Intern Program. This exciting opportunity offers a paid, 10-week experience for selected UNDERGRAD OR GRAD (based on HM request) students. The program will run from June 1 to August 7.

Eligible students will be seniors or entry level candidates, possess U.S. work authorization, and be able to work full-time on a 5-day-per-week on-site schedule. Additionally, participation in this program requires that you be located in the United States for the duration of the engagement.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged. The application window is open until March 15, 2026; however, it may close earlier if all available roles are filled. Applications submitted after the application window or once a role is closed/projects are full will not be considered.

Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary

This summer, you'll have an exciting opportunity to work in our Technology Solutions team, which partners closely with wireless carriers and ecosystem partners to realize the promise of next-generation 5G wireless networks. You'll support interoperability testing of complex 3GPP features against various device chipset partners, perform feature validation, and conduct system performance analysis for our 5G network products.

The summer intern will work with cutting-edge wireless technologies. If you thrive on analyzing hard and complex problems, this role is a great fit for you. You'll verify the latest 5G features, analyze 3GPP specifications to debug protocol messages, and collaborate with device chipset partners on future alignment and enhancements. You'll also support early field evaluations to push technological boundaries and pave the way for commercializing these complex features.

Responsibilities

Interop Testing:
  • Perform interoperability testing on the network with various device chipset ecosystem partners to validate compliance with 3GPP standards.
  • Validate and analyze PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layer protocols to test and debug complex new features.

System Validation and Verification:
  • Conduct end-to-end (E2E) system validation and verification for 5G/4G LTE RAN networks.
  • Provide technical support for network performance and feature implementation.

Early Field Evaluation:
  • Support the team in early field evaluations of new features to ensure readiness for commercialization.
  • Troubleshoot potential issues and analyze validation outcomes.

Collaboration and Analysis:
  • Work with R&D teams to analyze protocol messages and align with device chipset partners on roadmap enhancements.
  • Contribute to the development of future 5G/4G LTE features.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Pursuing a Master's in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field preferred (Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred).
  • Academic fields of study: Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Final-year graduate students strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:
  • General understanding of wireless 3GPP systems protocols, with emphasis on PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layers.
  • Basic knowledge of 5G and 4G air interface technologies and network architecture, specifically focused on Radio Access Network (RAN).
  • Familiarity with 4G/5G LTE call processing and wireless protocols.

Skills:
  • Strong understanding of wireless communications and network principles.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software architecture.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
