Diagnostic Systems Engineer
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Diagnostic Systems Engineer / Vehicle Diagnostics Engineer with strong expertise in vehicle diagnostics, embedded systems, C++ development, data analytics, and fault detection algorithms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, validating, and improving real-time diagnostic monitors while leveraging fleet data analytics to enhance system reliability and fault detection performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement real-time diagnostic algorithms and monitors in modern C++, including fault detection, signal plausibility checks, degradation monitoring, and fault isolation logic.
  • Perform software unit testing, HIL testing, SIL testing, and automated regression testing to validate diagnostic software.
  • Develop and maintain diagnostic requirements, including detection thresholds, debounce logic, fault handling, and response strategies.
  • Ensure traceability between diagnostic requirements and system/component-level failure modes.
  • Analyze large-scale fleet and telemetry data using Python and Databricks to evaluate diagnostic performance and optimize detection thresholds.
  • Lead root cause investigations of field-reported issues using logged data, vehicle telemetry, and replay tools.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, controls, and calibration teams to resolve complex system issues.
  • Create technical specifications, diagnostic documentation, and troubleshooting procedures for engineering and fleet operations teams.
  • Monitor fleet-wide diagnostic KPIs and continuously improve diagnostic coverage, detection accuracy, and system reliability.
  • Support the development of new diagnostic monitors and vehicle health monitoring capabilities.
Required Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Modern C++ development within embedded or safety-critical environments.
  • Experience with Vehicle Diagnostics Standards and Protocols:
    • UDS (ISO 14229)
    • DTC Management
    • OBD-II (SAE J1979)
    • CAN
    • LIN
    • Automotive Ethernet
  • Strong experience with Python for data analytics, validation, and visualization.
  • Hands-on experience working with Databricks or similar large-scale telemetry platforms.
  • Knowledge of Control Systems, State Estimation, Model-Based Diagnostics, and Fault Detection Algorithms.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis, fault isolation, and troubleshooting across hardware and software domains.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
