Responsibilities
- Lead discovery projects that explore user needs, external market conditions, and internal constraints to identify innovation opportunities.
- Define and apply appropriate Innovation Design methodologies, including AI-augmented research and prototyping tools, to address complex business challenges while ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Create tailored testing plans in collaboration with dedicated researchers, defining multi-method plans that blend qualitative and quantitative approaches to ensure design and innovation decisions are grounded in robust evidence.
- Synthesise insights from user, customer, and business perspectives, translating them into actionable design strategies with a focus on AI-assisted intelligent user experiences.
- Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with cross-functional teams, exploring how GenAI can enable novel value propositions and enhance design concepts.
- Coordinate the creation and presentation of project learnings and key updates for diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders, with clear articulation of opportunities and risks.
- Advocate for user-centred design principles while also promoting responsible and ethical use of AI in design.
- Mentor and guide team members in adopting Innovation Design methodologies and experimenting with GenAI-powered design workflows.
Skills Required
Strategic Design:
- Master Innovation Design methodologies such as Design Thinking or Lean Startup to uncover user insights and validate product propositions, integrating AI where it can accelerate research, ideation, and validation.
- Collaborate with UX Researchers to leverage user insights and explore AI-enabled methods for rapid synthesis and testing.
- Contribute to the development of strategic directions for customer-facing products and applications, with particular focus on how AI can create differentiated and scalable solutions.
Creative Problem Solving:
- Challenge conventional thinking with confidence and a forward-looking vision, highlighting opportunities where GenAI can disrupt or transform user experiences.
- Foster an environment of collaboration, valuing input from diverse perspectives while encouraging responsible experimentation.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrates strong understanding of Generative AI technologies and their implications for design.
- Proficient in design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Axure).
- Familiarity with general purpose AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Notebook LM, Midjourney) as well as specialized AI Design tools (e.g., Lovable, Cursor, etc.) is highly desirable.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a UX Designer or Innovation Designer, with a focus on leading cross-functional, time-bound projects and validating user needs and product-market fit.
- Exposure to GenAI applications in research, design, or prototyping workflows is strongly preferred.
- Business literacy and understanding of how large-scale organizations operate.
- Familiarity with Agile and Innovation methodologies, and user-centred design processes.
- Experience with design software (e.g., Figma, Sketch) is preferred.
Education & Work Experience
- 5+ years experience. Best candidates will have a portfolio with relevant case studies that also outline their approach.
- While a degree in Design, Customer Experience, Product, or a related field would be beneficial, we place more importance on relevant experience, demonstrable skills, and a strong portfolio of work. Any certification related to UX design or Innovation would be a plus.
