Job#: 3021406 Job Description: - Serve as the primary technical lead for Information Security, providing deep expertise across security technologies and practices.
- Advise the CISO, CIO, and IT leadership on Azure security best practices, including Entra ID, Azure WAF, Azure VMs, Intune, Microsoft Defender suite, Sentinel, and related cloud services.
- Maintain and enhance the City's technical security infrastructure in collaboration with the security team and IT operations.
Threat Intelligence & Risk Advisory- Monitor emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and intelligence from law enforcement, government agencies, and trusted industry sources.
- Translate threat intelligence into actionable recommendations and support risk-based discussions with the CISO and leadership.
- Provide expert input on security incidents, investigations, and response strategies as needed.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement- Liaise with IT teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into system design, operations, and modernization efforts.
- Partner with the Project Management Office to embed security considerations into project planning and execution.
- Coordinate with third-party security providers to ensure effective protection of City assets and alignment with internal standards.
Team Leadership & Development- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and workload direction to junior security staff (1.5 FTEs).
- Support skill development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the security team.
Additional Duties- Contribute to the development and refinement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in audits, assessments, and compliance activities as required.
- Perform related work as assigned.
QualificationsRequired- Extensive experience in information security engineering, architecture, or operations.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure security technologies and modern identity/security frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply threat intelligence.
- Experience collaborating with IT, leadership, and external partners.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred- Experience in public sector, critical infrastructure, or regulated environments.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Azure Security Engineer, GIAC, etc.).
- Prior experience leading or mentoring technical staff.
