Position Information

The Professional Engineering Procurement Services (PEPS) Division is looking for someone with a keen eye for data analysis and an aptitude for researching and reporting data to join the Business Operations Center. The PEPS Data Analyst will be working with a team in a fast paced environment utilizing a risk based approach to help support a multi billion dollar professional services procurement program. Ideal candidates would possess a sharp analytical and critical mindset with a strong sense for stewardship and customer service.

Position Description

Performs moderate (Data Analyst III), complex (Data Analyst IV) or highly complex (Data Analyst V) data analysis and data research work. Work involves conducting detailed analysis and extensive research on data and providing results in various formats. Monitors and implements measures to ensure data quality. Responsible for using standard statistical tools, methods and techniques to translate data into actionable insights using data visualization software. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Duties:

Data Analyst III

Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.

Accesses information from business organization cross-sections to make good business decisions and provide excellent customer service.

Consults with internal and external customers to identify user needs

Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.

Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Data Analyst IV

All of the above plus the following

Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.

Performs quality assurance and serves as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation.

Data Analyst V

All of the above plus the following

Oversees the creation of new standard reports; collaborating with end users to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing and validation.

May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members' career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Data Analyst III: 2 years of experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or report writing and design work experience.

Data Analyst IV: 3 years of experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or report writing and design work experience.

Data Analyst V: 4 years of experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or report writing and design work experience.

(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

• extensive knowledge of engineering or design related service contract cost principles and procedures, specific to overhead audit reviews

Data Analyst IV and V

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools

Sitting - prolonged periods of time

Fingering-picking, pinching, typing; working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand

Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
