Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

The individual will help maintain the engineering model, developing structure and behavior diagrams that describe the system architecture and design, and collaborate with other IPTs to obtain the information and data needed in the model. We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direct supervision. The candidate must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design. The candidate must be familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), be able to work within an agile environment, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists with design, testing, and documentation reviews.
  • Evaluates supplier documentation and Standard Operating Worksheets (SSOWs) for modeling compliance.
  • Creates and manages Risks and Opportunities (R&O), coordinating with various organizations.
  • Collaborates to decompose system requirements into manageable, lower-level specifications.
  • Coordinates requirement verification and traceability practices.
  • Works with stakeholders to define and drive system use cases and concepts of operations.
  • Collaborates to develop and update organizational processes, including process diagrams and manuals.
  • Facilitates and supports various working groups focused on defining and coordinating model capabilities and usage, while documenting gaps in modeling efforts and ensuring they are addressed.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure that new processes, standards, or products are clearly understood, adhered to, and effectively implemented.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation), and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of requirements and government regulations
  • Must have experience assessing and managing program risks

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools and Agile software development
  • Familiar with Atlassian tools and Agile software development methodologies
  • Basic understanding of Cameo software
  • Active Top-Secret clearance is highly desirable

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
